IMHO, When a 'Catholic Hospital" can not / will not for what ever reason ] hold itself above scandalizing Catholicity - Catholic Teaching…it should not be allowed to use the name Catholic for self promotion.

Perhaps you’re right Kimmie. It looks like they have a choice: either require catholic-only staff with “morality contracts” or just not call themselves Catholic. Eitherr way would work.

No a much easier way would be better not to be hiring bloody handed abortionists in the first place.That way the nomenclature of Catholic would truly reflect the hospital.Quasi-Ethical “solutions” hardly fit the Truth that Christ and Catholic Institutions represent.

The archdiocese may not have much say in the affairs of the Hospital. Remember Soutane, a few years back when St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto was a large contributor to the Gay Pride Parade? The most the archdiocese could have done was remove the Catholic name.

Yes, I agree, revoke privelidges for all doctors who perform procedures that are against the Catholic faith (such as the doctors who also have privelidges at surrounding secular hospitals where they also perform abortions, sterilizations, and in vitro fertilization, or fertility doctors who don’t comply with the rules of the Church), make a sincere apology to the supporters of that Catholic hospital, and then give priviledges only to practicing catholics, and require them to sign “morality contracts” when they are brought on board at the hospitals. I think we both agree In that way, they’re creating a Catholic only network, which would really be of benefit to other practicing Catholics.

Not even necessary. There are plenty of doctors who would NEVER do abortions.
Baptists, Evangelicals and the like are a few who come to mind.

In fact, any OB-GYN who refuses to do abortions could check right in.
Ditto for any nurses and aides.

Oh yeah, I mentioned that a few posts up That way everyone is on the same page and everyone knows what’s expected whether it’s the facility, the staff or the patient.

I have no problem with the closure of Catholic hospitals
if/when it’s obvious the hospitals are not Catholic in practice.

The problem is obvious though:
some Catholic hospitals do not act as CATHOLIC hospitals.

It is time Catholic hospitals, schools and the rest of us started to admit we are Catholic and stop the moving away from the faith. Especially the killing of the unborn.
