**I placed this here because of the subject being CATHOLIC Hospital purchase of a non-Catholic hospital. Please everyone pray that the government allows this ale to go through.:gopray2: :gopray2: :gopray2: :gopray2: **

In South Western PA our Catholic hospitals hae been sold to a non-Catholic mega group. As of this spring there will be NO Catholic affiliated hospitals in SWPa. So the news that there are still viable Catholic Hospitals is wonderful news.

Sisters of Charity Leavenworth Health System is purchasing Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, a suburb of Denver, and the sale could stop abortions at Exempla. State law requires the Attorney General John Suthers to approve the transfer of assets and he has until December 30 to do so. As LifeNews.com reported earlier this month, doctors at Exempla are upset that the hospital will be sold to a Catholic medical facility that does not allow abortions. Physicians there tried to persuade Suthers to void the sale but he announced in a statement on Thursday that the transaction can proceed. Suthers said he found no “material change in the charitable purposes” of the hospitals once the sale proceeds so he has “no basis to challenge the transfer.” The decision does not affect a lawsuit that the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper says was filed in Boulder County District Court last week challenging the sale. The lawsuit says the sale would be illegal if abortions (and more legitimate medical services) are curtailed. Full story at LifeNews.com.

An acutal Catholic Hospital, I did not think they still existed.
We have a “catholic” hosptial right down the street from us, but guess what abortions are performed there:eek: so I wonder why call yourself Catholic when your really not, is it just for the tax exemption?!

I wish I knew. The one closest to us has just sold to the “seculars” and now I wonder what will happen to the NUNS that were on the top floor in the nursing home section. This was the hospital of our choice when we needed care. The ER was good and the (name removed by moderator)atient care outstanding.

Our community hospital partnered with the Catholic healthcare network here years ago. Part of requirements of becoming a partner was to stop doing abortions at the hospital.

Since then our community has been abortion free. Also, Planned Parenthood has an office that does not do abortions hidden in a dark corner of the community while the Pregnancy Support Group has a nice facility in the heart of the community.

I love to hear that there are places that the Catholic Hospital is the one that purchased the non-Catholic hospital and it worked.

We have UPMC and one other group that now seems to own ALL the medical practices.

Our community hospital was not purchased by the Catholic heathcare network. It is still an independent non-profit. They partnered with the Catholic healthcare network to give them a name presence in our community and give our hospital access to the resource the could provide (technology, efficiencies related being in a large hospital network, etc).

Is family planning included in the technology and efficiencies you are talking about?

Unfortunately, our community hospital did not have to drop offering birth control other than abortion. The Catholic healthcare network does offer NFP, but the classes are not yet offered in our community. Hopefully, with the expansion of the medical offices, they will have enough classroom space to start offering it as we have to drive 30 miles for the classes/appointments right now.

I work in a Catholic hospital and I am so glad. Nice to get to Mass when time permits.

I am lucky. I feel very much at “home” when I am at work. The biggest plus is the chapel is down the hall from the Birth Center where I work and I try and go as often as I can.

Wonderful to hear that there is a hospital that allows the Mass. My mother was in a hospital a few years ago and their chapel no longer has Holy Water, Crucifix or a Tabernacle. Not even a cross so as not to offend anyone. So I just silently sat and prayed my Rosary. After that I stayed in my mothers room to pray no reason to go to the “chapel.”
