She was “Trump Funny” - meaning she said a lot of mean things to people who were in no position to respond and now she is famous! Good for her, bad for the country.

Some of the jokes are really brutal, but they all have a kernel of uncomfortable truth. I think that is what makes them so effective.

Hmm

This is something she also said that night

“Another of Wolf’s jokes that earned the ire of those in attendance focused on Vice President Mike Pence and his opposition to abortion.

“He thinks abortion is murder,” Wolf said. "Which, first of all, don’t knock it until you try it. And when you do try it, really knock it, you know, you gotta get that baby out of there. You can groan all you want, I know a lot of you are very anti-abortion, you know, unless it’s the one you got for your secret mistress. It’s fun how values can waver.”

Matt Schlapp, the head of Conservative Political Action Conference, and his wife, Mercedes Schlapp, a Trump administration official, both said they walked out of the White House Correspondent’s dinner. He said they were particularly incensed by the abortion joke.”

I finally got around to watching the performance.

She was funny. She’s a good comedian. But it was the wrong room for that performance. Someone said the comedians at the dinner are supposed to singe, not burn, and Ms Wolf burned.

It was kind of the same thing as then-candidate Trump’s Al Smith dinner performance.

That’s not whataboutism, that’s an apt comparison. Both performances were inappropriate for the occasion, for the same reasons.

I guess I would describe the performance as “vile”, or “vulgar”. I think her comments would have been disrespectful to the Office of the President no matter who was President. I would have said the same thing if it was Obama or Clinton. I have seen roasts like this before and indeed some have been borderline, but she totally crossed the line. There is a line one shouldn’t cross and she crossed it. Comedians who are really funny don’t have to result to vulgarity to achieve humor. The intent of her performance seemed only to be hurtful not to be entertaining. One can poke fun at the policies of the Office and drive home some digging comments, but this went far beyond this. Amazing how the left is so big on putting down 'Bullies" except when it is one of their own. Credit to Sarah Huckabee Sanders for enduring this fiasco.

The itsy bitsy difference is that he was a candidate for president. He now is president.

I can turn off Michelle wolf and never listen to her again. Actually, I had a certain point misread the name, and thought Michael Wolf was the presenter.

I do think “Trump funny” is a good term for her. Both make inappropriate, below the belt comments, and seemingly people who support them dismiss it as a joke.

I cri God when I heard the abortion joke. Made me feel uncomfortable ang glad I wasn’t in the room. But at the same time it did highlight that some (not just politicians) that speak against abortion are not necessarily against ot when an indiscretion results in s new life.

In other news, looks like she has a Netflix deal. O am sure their algorithms will advertise it to those that will like it the most.

Right, Michelle Wolf is not that funny even on the Daily Show. And she was very inappropriate at this dinner. I only heard a few lines. But President Trump has crossed the "appropriateness’ line so many times and I so many ways, it is double standard for his camp to now be whining.

I think the most significant word in this joke is “baby”. She deliberately did not use the nonperson term “fetus”. That speaks volumes. You will never hear a spokesperson from Planned Parenthood use the word “baby”.

The second part was a “commentary on hypocrisy” that was one of several truly devastating indictments of the oligarchs in the GOP, who only care about protecting unborn babies when it suits their political aspirations and power grabs, but not when it comes to their personal life.

I don’t know if “funny” is a necessary criteria for something to be labeled a “joke”. This joke was not funny. However, there seems to be an innate comedic register that humans recognize that makes something a joke nevertheless. When coupled with a devastating critique, it creates a dissonance that exposes the truth.

I never heard of her. Is the daily show the one with Trevor Noah?

I hope it gives Sarah pause to know what folks really think of her being the “mouth of Sauron” - it’s not like she’s a defense lawyer who has a duty to seek aquittal for her client for all wrong doing. She has a choice.

In past years, the dinner was more balanced, because the POTUS would also speak and so had the opportunity to give as good as he takes. Obama has great comedic delivery and nerves of steel. I’ll never forget his great performance in 2011 while the Bin Laden raid was going down.

Trump can only perform for safe crowds of admirers who cheer his moronic ramblings. He limits his effort to folks he knows he can con, which is his one natural talent.

One can be funny without being crude. I don’t see how anyone can find it funny when a person’s appearance is being mocked. Sara showed more class than the whole room full of “journalists”.

Sanders’ appearance was not being mocked.

Colbert got all these same criticisms for his 2006 address and now those criticisms look silly. The criticisms of Wolf will look equally silly. It was a great routine with some great jokes.

i have never heard of this comedian, but i confess i saw her picture on Drudge and my stomach turned. Kathy Griffin came to mind. i don’t find their comedy funny.
i purposefully have not read any article about what she said because i can tell it is not worth my time. The look on her face told me everything i need to know.

That is for sure.

she made my stomach turn because she looked like a big bully and proud of it.
i hope her career takes the same path of Kathy Griffin.
