**First of all, if you don’t agree with NFP, don’t bother posting. If you are going to offer advice contrary to Church teaching, don’t bother posting.

As some of you know, my hubby is away right now (military training) and will be coming home for Christmas. We have been struggling with NFP ever since our daughter was born 2 years ago (wacky cycles, breastfeeding, hormonal imbalances etc). We haven’t been able to be intimate very much at all.

And yes, we have reason to avoid…

So, we have been praying that our “safe” time falls somewhere within the Christmas break. But with the way my current cycle is going I am having serious doubts that it will be possible and I am very sad.:crying: After Christmas he won’t return home again until JUNE (for good).

I know that not having sex won’t kill us, but I miss him. I miss being close. I miss sharing that bond that only comes during intimacy. I am worried that this will be a time full of temptation and frustration. At least in the past we knew that a “safe” time would come up eventually and we would just look forward to that. But knowing that if we can’t be close during Christmas that we will have to wait until June or beyond is very daunting.

Could you all pray for us? **
When I was in the pentecostal church, one of the ladies used what she called the “Holy Spirit” method. They did the NFP (sort of) but no ABC or and had true relations (not “other stuff”.
When she and her husband were together and did not want to conceive, they prayed and asked that the Lord not send a child “this time”. When they wanted to conceive they asked the Lord to send a child. And it worked EVERY time.

That’s my advice (this coming from a single gal with no kids)

Pray, then love each other.

The Lord understands your situation and will not think badly of you not wanting a child right now.

Hi Malia,
No advice honey, just wanted to let you know I will be praying. What a tough cross you’ve been carrying for so long. I wish there was a way that I could somehow lift the burden for you. 😦

Anyways, have faith in our God that He will give you whatever you need to deal with the things He puts in your path. Hang in there!

Well, with Lily’s sleep problems getting worse (we have been awake since 11:30pm LAST NIGHT, I am starting to doubt that I will even be coherent by the time hubby makes it home…maybe I’ll be having a nice vacation in a mental hospital:rolleyes:😦

I will pray for you.

I am seriously thinking that we may have to go a couple of years without sex once this baby is born and I’m frightened. For one thing, I don’t trust NFP post-partum. Oh, maybe for a couple of months I think it’s fairly safe, but we do have a pretty serious need to avoid. You see, I need to get a medical treatment that is NOT compatible with pregnancy. I need to get this treatment done within the next couple of years. I have an appointment to see the doctor about it next summer and I’m thinking I’ll go ahead and start it, then (when baby is about six months old. I’ll have to wean him.) Anyway… that’s six months of treatment and then no sex for another six months. (I’m not willing to risk pregnancy AT ALL and that would mean total abstinence.)

Anyway, DH and I have had to talk about this and I am really hoping that we will be able to do it without too much damage to our marriage.

Prayers for you!

Intimacy?? Go to a hotel for a night or two and get some sleep. Leave the husband home with the little one. You’ve earned it.

Oh sweetie!!! I’m sorry :hug1: All I can say is that I’ll be praying for you hoping that your cycle cooperates w/your DH being home… I know what it is to be w/o the intimacy. DH and I had hit almost 6 months w/o for reasons you already know…

Anyway, just know that I will be praying that you’re in well into phase 3 when your DH is there w/you.
