Again, my point was not say the Bishops are wrong…or that the Pope was wrong.

My point is to say that LDS leaders are not the only ones to get involved in the political process.

I liked it when I was Catholic and Catholics leaders did it…and I like it now when LDS leaders do it.
Catholics are definitely involved in the political process! And the LDS church as well, especially in Utah.

yep.

I like it. In a time where it seems believers are getting trashed and pushed out…we need our Religious leaders to make themselves heard.

Sorry, but our dear Utah senators have been known to have illegal meetings with representatives of the LDS church. Which I view as not morally right. But that’s Mormonism, a pragmatic morality. Meaning, for them the end justifies the means and the measurement of what is good, is what the LDS leaders of today want. Which is pragmatic.

I don’t support it.

Catholic Leaders throughout history have done so,

Let’s stop pointing fingers and relish our common ground

The subject is Utah politics, and the Mormon influence. It isn’t pointing fingers it’s pointing out the reality in which I live!

If you have known of Catholic leaders in Utah who have done, and are able to influence politics here, in the same way as the Mormon church, perhaps you can provide examples?

Personally I don’t support back door lobbyists making secret deals, and exerting influence on elected officials, from anywhere.

It is where I live as well.

And as I said, Catholics have done it throughout history all over the world…it is convenient to pick and choose.

as to lobbyists…it happens in every state, in the federal government…on all topics…both parties. That is a reality

I would rather simply think more about where we have common ground

I don’t support it! You do, so no commonality there.

Her is an article that explains how the Vatican influences the entire country of Italy.

italychronicles.com/the-vatican-influences-italy/

I am not knocking it. I would like to see more religious views in the world…right now, secular policies seem to rule.
You’re channeling why me. :D;) I mean that guy couldn’t post without knocking Catholics or Catholicism, all the while claiming he lovvvvves Catholics.

When you can provide examples of lobbyists interviewing lawmakers, with statements of coming from “up top”, implying the Pope sent them to influence the politician…then you have a comparison. Which again, I wouldn’t support in a democracy.

Politicians voting along the lines of their religious beliefs is not a comparison. Everyone votes according to their conscience.

As long as you are consistent in your dislike against both Churches doing so…🙂
Correct, as I said the subject is Utah and Mormon influence in Utah. But you are consistently attempting to change all subjects on Mormonism to off of Mormonism.

Things that make you go :hmmm:

That’s the thing…I am NOT knocking Catholics. I simply said Catholics do the same thing…but…I am in FAVOR of it. That is NOT knocking it.

All I am saying is…if you are gonna accuse LDS…be fair.

But I am not knocking anyone…I like BOTH Churches doing it

Whatever, whatever. You’re being a Mormon, supporting sketchiness because it’s the Mormon church, and trying to use similar bad actions by Catholic individuals in an attempt to defend bad actions by the Mormon First Presidency.

I wasn’t born in Utah yesterday.

Whatever, whatever.
lol

I figure the politicians are hearing from folks like Abortion advocates…why not hear from Religious organizations…

They will hear from Atheist organizations…why not from Catholic or LDS organizations?

You need to read up on Utah politics, from the ultra conservatives POV. That group thinks the LDS church does not get involved enough! And have criticized the LDS lobbyists for trying to influence them to vote for legislation they did not want to vote for!

I am not for lobbyists influencing politicians, whether it be with money or religious authority.

me either.

But…since lobbying is allowed…I sure want the religious voice heard…

Oh no worries about that in Utah! The LDS church has a reputation for tipping the legislative scales in their favor.
yep…Apparently, Italy has the same issue with the Catholic 🙂

Again…not bashing…I like it

The spirit of why me.
Why Me bashed…

How is me saying I approve of what the Catholic Church is doing bashing?

Or perhaps you are all geared up to bash the LDS Church and dislike evidence the Catholic Church does the exact same thing in other parts of the world…

Or perhaps you think it is ok when the Catholic Church does it elsewhere but dislike the LDS Church doing it in Utah…?

Again…I like that both Churches do it…the legislators should hear from ALL sides…not the just the anti-Religious…

at least until ALL lobbyists are outlawed (my preference)
