That is not true at all Manny. Your generalizations aren’t doing your credibility any good. Check up on Anglican church doctrine. Where do we say Mary is now and what is she??
Don’t you know? Mary is NOT a what or a whatever, she is a not only blessed but blessed virgin and a Saint.

From Wikipedia:
Mary’s special position within God’s purpose of salvation as “God bearer” (theotokos) is recognised in a number of ways in the Anglican Church. The Church affirms in the historic creeds that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, and celebrates the feast days of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple; the Annunciation of our Lord to the Blessed Virgin; the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin; and the Birth of the Blessed Virgin.
The Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is kept in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. In certain Anglo-Catholic parishes this feast is called the Immaculate Conception. Again, the Assumption of Mary is believed in by most Anglo-Catholics, but is in considered a pious opinion by moderate Anglicans. Protestant minded Anglicans reject the celebration of these feasts.
Prayer to and with the Blessed Virgin Mary varies according to churchmanship. Low Church Anglicans rarely invoke the Blessed Virgin except in certain hymns, such as the second stanza of Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones. Anglo-Catholics, however, frequently pray the rosary, the Angelus, Regina Caeli, and other litanies and anthems of Our Lady. The Anglican Society of Mary maintains chapters in many countries. The purpose of the society is to foster devotion to Mary among Anglicans.

John Wesley, founder of Methodism and an Anglican Priest, said this in his Letter to a Roman Catholic (Dublin, July 18, 1749.):
  1. I believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Savior of the world, the Messiah so long foretold; that, being anointed with the Holy Ghost, He was a Prophet, revealing to us the whole will of God; that He was a Priest who gave Himself a sacrifice for sin, and still makes intercession for transgressors; that He is a King, who has all power in heaven and in earth, and will reign till He has subdued all things to Himself.
I believe He is the propel natural Son of God, God of God, very God of very God; and that He is the Lord of all, having absolute supreme universal dominion over all things; but more peculiarly our Lord, who believe in Him, both by conquest, purchase, and voluntary obligation.
I believe that He was made man, joining the human nature with the divine in one person; being conceived by the singular operation of the Holy Ghost, and born of the blessed Virgin Mary, who, as well after as before she brought Him forth, continued a pure and unspotted virgin.
I believe He suffered inexpressible pains both of body and soul, and at last death, even the death of the cross, at the time that Pontius Pilate governed Judaea under the Roman Emperor; that His body was then laid in the grave, and His soul went to the place of separate spirits; that the third day He rose again from the dead; that He ascended into heaven; where He remains in the midst of the throne of God, in the highest power and glory, as Mediator till the end of the world, as God to all eternity; that in the end He will come down from heaven to judge every man according to his works, both those who shall be then alive and all who have died before that day.
Maybe one of these days, we Protestants will quit being pigeonholed and things assumed about us. I am sure Catholics don’t like Protestants thinking the same about them.

O+

the way it actually is, is what is inside of the can determines what it should be labeled.

if you open a can and realize there is campel’s chicken noodles soup, then you should label it as chicken noodle soup
actually thats the point of why Im against them, it makes people lazy and no one looks inside.

Chicken noodle for example really doesnt describe whats inside specifically. its a soup but whats it made of. Someones christian what are they made of? And I dont mean denomination, its a help to be fair, a starting point but its certainly not all a person is.
just like, if you understand a christian’s methods and understanding Faith and teachings like say for instance, a christian believes the bible is the final and only authority then obviously the label has already been established.
Well, there are certainly some that believe in bible only. Im not included. If I said I did you could slap the label on and not bother anymore. But thats where labels fail. Go beyond the label, why is the person like that? What causes them to believe that way.

Is it because they have be lied to, or been caused confusion, fell into a cult? There are so many gods out there who do you believe? If you want to follow the God of the bible, perhaps you will only look to the bible, for fear of going astray again?? This is going beyond the label to a better understanding of the person.
do you attend a non-denominational church?
uh no. If it helps, Ive attended Nazarene (married there), Baptist, a bit of Charasmatic, Pentacostal and Catholic. The last “bits” are attending friends churches to support each other in the faith. Currently, I do not attend anything particular myself.
and i accidently misquoted
“the moe you rebel against labels, the more the closer you are to them”
perhaps you won’t understand what I’m trying to explain, it’s just the best way I could express my understanding from when I too was against these “labels”, at a point of time I didn’t even like to label myself a christian , I referred to myself as “a follower of Christ”
I see you have a different “take” on labels, and I get that, it can be interperted differently. I state a “follower of Christ”, because as I said Im not of a particular church. And my label disagreement is more to do with people being shallow and those that think because they slap a label on a person, figure they know all about them. Without taking the time to walk in another shoes.

Maybe one of these days, we Protestants will quit being pigeonholed and things assumed about us. I am sure Catholics don’t like Protestants thinking the same about them.

sigh thats what Im trying to explain, the reason I do not like “labels” they dont work. Thats why they are for soup cans 😃

When one sees the name Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, Lutheran, Charasmatic, Pentacostal, immediately the stereotypes flood in. No one takes time to see if its true. We love catagories too much.

This is a quick addition

This is for BOTH sides, and ALL humans, we love these lousy labels.

Well of course I know. I wasn’t addressing that to you, I was asking Manny because he seems to think that all Protestants ignore mary which obviously isn’t true.

and these stereos types need to end in both sides and have the Protestants claim the CC teaches false doctrine to end.

I think that if the generalizations about Protestants stop, you will see a more charitable approach about those things in which we don’t agree.

Manny

of course 😃

And of course you know it works both ways.

The only way to end a arguement is to entertain the possilibty that the other one has a point.

🙂

they should have been charitable in the first place.

I did say the steroes types need to end in both sides. However, I have seen Non-Catholic Christians in this Forum keep insisting the Catholic Church teaches false doctrine and some even claim that the CC departed from the truth?

I’m not gonna point individuals but I’m becoming extremely annoyed by that.

Let’s share what we have in common if that’s okay with everyone…beside the obvious of we both believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior. What else is there?
The Sunday School song “Jesus loves me.”
dltk-bible.com/jesus_loves_me.htm

For that matter I don’t know of any hymns that only one side would accept. In my experience we sing or could sing the same songs in church.

Respect for Mother Theresa.

Respect for our last Pope.

The Nicene Creed, maybe minus the phrase “apostolic church.” Both sides acknowledge the apostolic origin of the church. If we stop there we have the entire Creed in common.

The Apostles Creed, less the one line about “communion of saints.” That one line is interpretted differently. The rest of the creed is accepted by both sides.

they should have been charitable in the first place.
Manny Have I been uncharitable? whos they? They is the reason we all fight. We need to talk to one another not to the vaugue they. which is a stereotype.

addition

besides a few weeks ago, you were much more, I dont know, but you seem not like you were. 😦

You have been charitable but others not you who keep spreading lies.

Really Manny, I believe we have much more in common than we have in a state of disagreement. Especially Anglicans and Catholics. Especially!

Manny, I hope you can see how much more charitable I have been towards you. Give me some credit here.
Your post have been charitable. We had some debates together and I don’t think they were offensive. I do think they are misconceptions you have about the CC which I try to clearly to you so you somewhat can understand it like honoring Mary. You can disagree. I can’t change your mind anymore than you can change me.

I think somewhere in the thread you noted you were a Former Catholic. I think many Former Catholics are poorly catechized hence the result being departing from Catholicism as a whole.
