It depends. Is it acceptable to recieve communion on Saturday evening and then again Sunday Morning???![]()
Sez who?unless there’s a valid and licit reason, you should only celebrate a given liturgy (in this case, the Sunday liturgy) once.
No, you are not.I hope someone out there has the correct knowledge about this and can give us the reference source.
I for one go to Church everyday. The only Mass in my Church is 4:30 on Saturday and 10AM on Sunday.
This is conflicting information. For the small group of us who go to Church each day. I would like to know if we are committing an error, or sinning by going to late Mass on Saturday and again on Sunday. HELP!!!
That’s not correct. We can receive twice a day and a third time if there is a danger of death. It depends.
Why would you do such?
There is ONE Sunday celebration of the Eucharist (Mass), whether one celebrates it Saturday evening (as allowed) or on Sunday.

In general, no, unless there’s a valid and licit reason, you should only celebrate a given liturgy (in this case, the Sunday liturgy) once.**Priests, of course, who celebrate more than one Eucharist (Mass) for a given Sunday communicate more than once.
In Canon law…the “number of communions a day canon” is on a 24 hour clock…even though the Sunday Vigil is the Sunday liturgy…It depends.

No perfectly fine…as per Canon Law of the Roman Church (the Eastern Catholic Churches have their own Law…so hence I say of the Roman rite…)I hope someone out there has the correct knowledge about this and can give us the reference source.

And: Even though the reception of Communion may be limited, I know no teaching to limit the number of times one may attend Mass (reception not required), as has beenIn Canon law…the “number of communions a day canon” is on a 24 hour clock…even though the Sunday Vigil is the Sunday liturgy…
The Catholic Church. See Canon Law 917.Sez who?

You said in post #5 that a person may only go to Mass once per day.The Catholic Church. See Canon Law 917.
Can you be more explicit? Thanks. The Catholic Church. See Canon Law 917.
Good points. Thanks. My point was that while people are free to go to Mass however often they want, the fact is that there is one Sunday (et. al.) Mass for a given celebration, regardless of how many times the same liturgy is offered. You said in post #5 that a person may only go to Mass once per day.
You actually say: “There is ONE Sunday celebration of the Eucharist (Mass), whether one celebrates it Saturday evening (as allowed) or on Sunday.
“In general, no, unless there’s a valid and licit reason, you should only celebrate a given liturgy (in this case, the Sunday liturgy) once.”
This assertion is questioned by other posters in posts #'s 6, 10 and 11. In post #15 you say this is supported by Canon 917. This canon says: “One who has received the blessed Eucharist may receive it again on the same day only within a eucharistic celebration in which that person participates, without prejudice to the provision of can. 921 §2.”
This canon does not restrict the number of times one may attend Mass. It restricts the number of times one can receive Holy Communion. It can be received once under any circumstances. It can be received a second time but only during Mass. (The provisions of Canon 921 §2 permit it to be received a third time as Viaticum (of course, this is providing Viaticum has not already been received that day).)
