Exactly.

Until people, esp men, can imitate Our Lady’s authentic humility, these sort of happenings will continue to occur.

Humility is no easy task for any human, esp for men. I think that is due to (and I am serious) testosterone. There is something so very competitive in men. At least in western culture.
Hi Marie,

I always enjoy your posts.

Testosterone is values-neutral. It is not that we have it, but how we use it.

But you are absolutely correct about emulating the humility of Our Lady. We men often find it difficult to be humble and patient and to take the time and effort to truly listen and to be kind in the little ways that are so important.

The rosary has been a great blessing to me, and helps me (a naturally dominant person) to temper my nature; though how successful I have been is still up for discussion. :o

I was blessed to have wonderful and brilliant parents who taught me the inherent value and complimentarily nature of both sexes. The older I get, the more I realize that my late father was an extraordinary man.

My older daughter calls me a “male feminist”. I consider that a fine compliment. I grieve for the plight of women the world over and pray that one day all persons will be seen as Saint Paul described:
There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

In a very stereotypical way, male egos can be found competing within any religious institution.
And in another very stereotypical way, female egos can be found collaborating with any political institution. Nazis. Commies. Any. Tomayto, tomahto; gander, goose.

Condemning one ‘gander’ over another is sexist, since there is good in both genders.

Some common ideas I found between the two religions

1- an angel talked to me and said
A) the bible is false and I need to rewrite it
B) I am the new prophet
C) I need to endorse polygamy and take your wife or daughter
D) use of violence endorsed

These are the things I found in common with Muhammad and Joseph smith
I agree with 1 but your conclusions on ABCD are highly subjective and either non-factual or disputed.

If one googles “similarities between Islam and Mormonism” many interesting things come up.

Did you know that the Mountain Meadow Massacre occurred on September 11?

Yep…I knew that

In his instructions to the twelve, Jesus said, “Thank not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword”. (Matthew 10:34) In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he wrote, “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…” (Ephesians 6:14-17)

I do not believe the sword referred to was an instrument to kill except in the battle with evil the sword - or the word of God - would be used to destroy the works of Lucifer.

Are there LDS that commit crimes? Yes. Does that prove or give evidence that Joseph Smith was not a prophet or that the LDS is a militant religion? No.

As I understand the situation in Arizona was that a man was protecting his Constitutional rights. How many of us would turn to violence to protect our God given rights? We fight wars to protect our rights.

The Mountain Meadow Massacre! Those church members were warned by Brigham Young to leave those people alone but locals disregarded his warning and did kill some innocent people. Those church members were excommunicate and, I’m sure, if Brigham Young had the authority he would have had them tried in a court of law - my opinion.

In the days of Joseph Smith, American was a new country that was much different than today but we tend to judge all Americans of that age by our current culture. Who knows what really happened? All we have are historians that search documents that they know not the motivation or environment in which the documents were written - most histories have many errors because of speculation and assumptions that fill in the gaps of that which is not known.

Say it isn’t so! You know what else happened on September 11?

1297 - Battle at Stirling Bridge, Scottish rebel William Wallace beats English
1304 - Willem III becomes earl of Holland
1390 - the Teutonic Knights begin a five-week siege of the city of Vilnius in Lithuania, losing its original purpose of fighting for Christianity and starting off a string of wars where Christians fought other Christians.
1541 - Santiago, Chile, is destroyed by indigenous warriors, lead by Michimalonko.
1557 - Catholic & Lutheran theology debated at Worms.
1609 - Expulsion order in Valencia culminating in ethnic cleansing of all Muslims and Jews from Spain.
1906 - Mahatma Gandhi coins the term “Satyagraha” to characterize the Non-Violence movement in South Africa.
1950 - “Beetle Bailey” comic strip debuts
1970 - Introduction of the Ford Pinto
Looks like Sep 11 is a big Scotto-Teutonic-Indo-Fordo-Mormo-Islamist conspiracy. 👍

How do these events tie in with the similarities between Islam and Mormonism? 🤷

Actually, not much has happened on 9/11 when you look at the timeline presented making the two acts of terror even more shocking.
First of all, the Mountain Meadow Massacre was a war crime, not an act of terror. Terrorist acts are intentionally public; the perps of the MMM tried to keep it a secret. There’s no such thing as a secret act of terrorism; publicity is the whole point.

Second, you’re wrong that not much has happened on 9/11; I just clipped a few incidents. Here’s are more. I had to cut it in half because of space constraints:

How did BY feel after the massacre took place?
Terrified. He had one third the US army breathing down his neck and Salt Lake City all set up with kindling to be torched as soon as he gave the word, and he’d worked very hard to put the US army in a position where it had to negotiate, sending folks to make peace with Washington. Suddenly there’s a massacre by remote mormons out in Cedar City that threatens to bring the whole peace plan in war and bloodshed.

How do these events tie in with the similarities between Islam and Mormonism? 🤷
They illustrate that any attempt to draw a “similarity” between Islam and “Mormonism” based on a date is silly superstitious numerology. The information is about as religiously useful as asking for Jesus’ zodiac sign.

When once has to reach that far to deflect from the point, it validates the point. Thank you

Terrified? Nope. He felt as if vengeance was accomplished. We know that because he went to the memorial that had been erected and kicked it over like an angry, classless, thoughtless thug and claimed vengeance had been done.

How did BY feel after the massacre took place?
Immediately after, when he found out, he was terrified, for the reasons I said.

Years later, when he’d heard the lies from Lee and Haight about the pioneers bragging about having killed Joseph Smith, (stories they’d told to persuade him to protect them), BY apparently made some remark that God had taken some measure of vengeance. So to that extent, what Tex said might be partially true.

Please provide evidence that BY was terrified. I look forward to reading your evidence.

BY did his memorial desecration less than 4 years after MMM and less than 2 years after the memorial was erected.

His hiding of evidence soon after MMM speaks loudly about how little fear he had, but deciet and vengeance was in his heart
