Does anyone know if the new Compendium is out yet? I thought it was supposed to be out in January but haven’t seen it or heard much about it lately.

I’ve had a copy on order from Amazon since early October. They delayed until late October, then to early January. I presume they still don’t have it.

Unfortunate since I am looking to using it instead of the full Catechism for our Adult Education classes next year, but want to review it first.

I think the U.S. Bishops are also putting out an adult catechism which I would like to review, but don’t have any details on it yet.

Why not use Peter Kreeft’s Catholic Christianity.

Our text book in my Teachings of the Catholic Church is the Catechism but the professor has suggested this book for those who have trouble with the Catechism.

It is published by Ignatius.

Thanks for all your responses. I prefer the official Catechism. I’m interested in the Compendium, it is supposed to be an “accessory” to the Catechism. In our RCIA we use The Essential Catholic Catechism by Alan Schreck. It is well written, and does a great job, but I still prefer the official one.

In Spain, it´s already.
Franze, I wonder should it take this long in the U.S. if its already in Spain. I get the impression the Bishops in America are delaying it some ‘reason’. Just look at what Cardinal George said, when he said that the bishops were afraid that the Vatican decree on forbidding the ordination of homosexuals would “upset the gay communities”. And the fact that they tinker with the sacred language and liberally translate latin, in the “Americanized” way. Flaming liberals, I’m so sick of them. I just wish they would stop tearing down the house of God.
