Complaining isn’t enough
By Mychal Massie

The fourth anniversary of 9-11 is upon us, and for all of the memorializing, concerts, candlelight vigils, special services and, yes, loss of life, America has learned nothing from the horror perpetrated upon us. Americans have no one to blame but themselves because they continue to allow grandstanding politicians and committees (evidence the now forthcoming details surrounding the 9-11 commission) to dictate what is valid for us and what is not.

In every horror, there are appeasers and those who blame America first, but they are the minority. The power rests with the people, yet sadly the majority choose not to exercise it, opting instead to defer and complain.

The reality of 9-11 hit very close to home for me not only because of the loss of life, but because this is my country and I take it personal when rubbish like the perpetrators --who claim allegiance to a madman who advocated beheadings, rape and lying with eternal rewards – commit such heinous acts.

I still remember watching the towers collapse … and the faces of the police, firefighters and emergency squads. I remember vividly the palpable torture on the face of a young man I interviewed who was awaiting word on his sister and fiance. I think of the children who not only lost parents and family, but who are forced to listen to the likes of the Ward Churchill foment how America deserved such a tragedy.

I resent that people like Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond, Charles Rangel and Al Sharpton are without the same rage they purport when alleging phony accusations of civil-rights violations. I resent beyond measure that, collectively, those who participated in Jesse Jackson’s “Hate-Fest 2005” held in Atlanta last week could not muster the same outrage in defense of my country.

I am without sufficient words to describe the depth of my disdain for Hillary Clinton who lied about her daughter’s proximity to the towers so as to make gain at the expense of others’ tragedy. In my opinion, that act alone makes her unfit for public office.

I reserve the depth of my ire for organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the White House. CAIR because they accuse anyone who identifies terrorists for what they are of being Islamophobic and supporting genocide, yet they themselves have repeatedly refused to condemn terrorists, support the First Amendment for all Americans, pledge loyalty to America or condemn anti-Semitism; and the White House because of its non-existent record on illegal immigration.

But the American people are due no small amount of consternation because it is the people who permit the names of those lives lost to be sullied and forgotten.

The American people owe it to those murdered to demand the networks show the actual footage of the planes being flown into the towers, the towers falling, the people jumping from windows, people fleeing, and the brave men and women rushing to save lives – fully cognizant that, in the process, they would probably lose theirs. We have a right to see this time and again. It is unconscionable that the people would allow networks to so blatantly whitewash history.

The American people and the survivors of those lost have a right to be angry. How dare the manipulators of fact and embellishers of lies be given carte blanche to undermine history? The duplicitous double standard they practice is transpicuous. They seek to have America remember 9-11 within the framework they define, insisting we not be angry while finding it legitimate for crazed zealots to carry on centuries-old blood feuds. Not to mention their blaming America for the lives lost.

America has a right to declare an end to the usurpation of our judicial system by those who believe in global jurisprudence and who would give aid and comfort to those responsible for the deaths of thousands. America has a right to demand dismissal of those teachers who value condoms more than the factual memory of our loved ones.

Most importantly, America has one person, one vote – it is up to us to put an end to taxpayer-funded terrorist sympathizers. The elected are elected and paid at our pleasure. It is up to us to make our will known by withholding money, support and votes from those who show more concern for the food and bathrooms at Guantanamo Bay than they do for the unborn.

Save the people of America rise up to reclaim her, those who perished on 9-11 will have suffered death at the hands of pagans in vain.
