If you are well catechized, it could be OK. But, it is aimed more or less at Fundamentalist/Evangelical Protestants and contains only 66 of the 73 books of inspired scripture. Two of those missing books (Tobit and Wisdom of Solomon) are incredible reads and are my favorites in the OT.
Far better the Ignatius Press study bible, as it has solid orthodox Catholic notes. The downside is that it covers only the NT. WARNING Personal opinion to follow: There are lots of NAB and NABRE study bibles out there, but I scrupulously avoid them, as they tend to be inconsistent and some of the notes and introductions are just plain horrible. I know that they are “approved”, but they are also products of one of the low points in modern Church history. You can do a lot better.
