One of the things I like about MAGNIFICAT magazine are the occasional nuggets of information to be found.
Thursday morning prayer included Psalm 142, with this annotation, “Psalms such as this one are not reserved for those who are persecuted by visible enemies. They are given to us to pray whenever life’s troubles threaten to overwhelm us. If we are not suffering tribulation ourselves, we can pray in the name of all those who are burdened with problems that seem insuperable.”
And I immediatly thought of those alcoholics and addicts who have not yet made it into recovery. And also those who have but still struggle with the demons of craving. So I prayed this Psalm with that intention in mind, and it seemed to be much more meaningful that way.
Any other comments on Psalm 142?
