And of course that means lots of journalists. But who are all the others? I was startled to see how many there were. Maybe some are musicians, and many appear to be priests, monks, or nuns, but it’s not clear to me what they were doing before they were ordered out. One of the people who left wore something similar, but not identical, to the Swiss guard uniforms.
The man who gave the order was introduced as Msgr. Guido Marini. There is a Wikipedia article about him. He is not a Cardinal, but he remained inside the room when the doors were closed. He is the one who closed the doors. Who else remains in there besides the cardinal electors, and what are they there for?
