Just kidding btw. I couldn’t resist! :dancing:

Thanks JCPhoenix!!

Like many on this thread, I have not been to confession in several years. Twenty plus to be exact. I finally went last weekend. While I wrote everything down, I only managed to get through about half during my confession due to my nervousness. The priests’ words were comforting and I experienced wonderful peace after returning home from mass. Thanks again!!

Congratulations! And thank you for posting…I’m so glad that this thread has helped someone. Isn’t that what we are all here for? To lend others strength?

Thank YOU for the wonderful example to us about how the Lord works!

yes, even if the priest did not hear the sin it is forgiven, the fact that you mentioned it is enough—God hears & He is the one who forgives you through the priest

I went through the same thing a few years ago. Oh, man, did I ever cry. I thought I had been the most evil person ever. Our priest was so comforting and gave wonderful advice. It’s okay if it has still been a few years. I noticed this thread was started last week. I hope I’m not out of line if I ask if you made it there. If not, try again this weekend. There is no feeling in the world like receiving absolution. You are NOT alone in this. You’re in my prayers.
Peace be with you,
Maggie

]I went back to Confession after 20+ years. When I mentioned the time since my last confession, Father took over and took me through a list of questions. I mostly only had to say “yes” or “no” and to state the number of times. Every once in a while, he asked a clarifying question.

Several people I know have had the same experience.

I’m one of those. I was away from confession for 15 years. The priest went through each of the 10 commandments asking questions.

I think it’s important to realize that our feeling that we are horrible people is not from God but a lie from the devil. God forgives us but the Evil One wants our sin to continue to bog us down. YOU have power over the devil, NOT the other way around.
