Why?

God Bless!
Asking for the forgiveness of the person you offended or in some way did wrong to is done as much by pagans and atheists as Christians. It is nothing new. ¿Why would Christ ask us to do something that is just plain courtesey and common sense, and is allready being done in the first place? He must mean something more.

You and I do not have the God-given authority to forgive sins. Therefore, priests confess to those who do have such authority - other priests. Even the pope has a confessor.

Now, when is the last time you confessesd your sins to anyone?
God has given each believer the ministry of reconciliation. To reconcile the sinfull world to Himself. That is the forgiveness of sins. I do have the authority to say to a repentant sinner their sins are forgiven. I confessed my sins yesterday, to a couple of brothers in Christ. Your answer totally inores my point. Why is that dont address my point!!!

Its because that Catholics are unbiblical in their approach to penance.

Where does it say that **I am in disagreement with the Catholic church? 🤷 **If I were you, as a non-Catholic, I’d worry about my own soul…😉
Why, do catholics not have to worry about their soul?

Is it only something that non-catholics should worry about?

Theistgal identifies herself as a byzantine catholic. Why do you call her a non-catholic?

The catholic church does not use the term non-catholic as a term of abuse. In fact in the catechism, all non catholics are viewed as seperated brothers and sisters.

And it goes further and suggests that in no way is the soul of a non catholic in danger simply because of the fact the person is a non catholic.

In this post, where you stated you do not think that a two-week-old “sac” is a baby. (The Church says that it is a baby from the moment of conception.)

I am a Byzantine Catholic - in what way does that make me a “non-Catholic”? Are you familiar with the Eastern rites of the Church?

Sac? Where is the word that I wrote, sac? That is YOUR word. Catholics don’;t fight with other Catholics, but you do. Such charity…

I’ll put it to you this way so you can understand… What would you think if you are NOT in the church Christ established? Pretty simple? And why be concerned about others whose posts are not directed to you? MYOB?:D:p

I understand and I agree. Do you think a 2 week old **sac **that isnt even a baby, nor is it completely formed is the same as having an adult skinned alive and made out of lampshades, not to mention being led in the dark to a room naked and then burned alive? Come on here…🤷
This is your quote, and you obviously used the word “sac”. (bolding mine)

This thread is about confession backed up by St. Paul. Stick to the topic.

No, I never said sac. I am not here to argue. Have a nice day.
Hello OneTrueCathApos,

If you click on the blue tab in the quoted posts it will take you to the actual post you made. You did indeed call the unborn baby a sac. I replied to your other thread giving you the link to the prayer site for the unborn baby. I think this is why so many are concerned for you. As a catholic, you must know the unborn baby is not a ‘‘sac’’ as you call him or her, but a beautiful child of God, no matter at what stage of development. Take a look at post number 16 on the boy in the striped pyjamas thread, That’s the post people are talking about

**‘And to whom you have pardoned anything, I also. for what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned anything for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ’

‘I also. The Apostle here granted an indulgence, or pardon, in the person and by the authority of Christ, to the incestuous Corinthian, whom before he had put under pennance, which pardon consisted in a releasing of part of the temporal punishment due to his sin.’

2 Collossians 2:10**
Where are you getting this verse?? There is no 2 Collossians. Perhaps you meant 2 Corinthians 2:10.

Please note that Paul leads off verse 10 by saying anyone who you have forgiven I also forgive. He’s not pronouncing forgiveness of sins as if someone attended confession.

How about James position on confession:

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

James makes no distinction that a righteous person is solely a priest or elder.

I can answer this from experience as a Catholic. Not all things can be appropriately confessed to another person or the one you sinned against. The sin of imagined lust for example. I cannot imagine confessing it to a person I lusted, and say, “I am sorry I lust for you the other afternoon, please forgive me”.

God bless.
No but you may want to confess to your wife or significant other that you looked upon someone with lust. If your not married and looked lustfully upon someone then asking GOD to forgive you is sufficient. Only GOD can forgive sin itself. We can forgive one another for sinning against us which Christ tells us to do in the Our Father. Somehow Catholics seem to overlook this all imortant part of the prayer yet they pray it each day in mass.

“Forgive us our sins/debts as WE forgive those who have sinned or transgressed against us. For if you cannot forgive one another how can you expect my Father in Heaven to forgive you.”

Christ states nothing about confessing to a Priest.

Our Lord gave His authority to forgive or retain sins in His holy name to the apostles after his resurrection. It’s a no-brainer. Anyone who has a beef with it is just chicken to unload their sins to a priest. It’s pride and fear and the obvious insitution of this sacrament is plain and clear in Scripture. We cannot confess our sins in the closet and think that is sufficient.
No he most certainly did not. In making this statement Christ is empowering the Apostles to open the Gospel to everyone. Preaching the Gospel is announcing that there is forgiveness of sins through Christ.

As stated in another response Christ commanded us to pray the Our Father which specifically asks GOD for forgiveness as we forgive one another. Then continues to tell us that we can’t expect GOD to forgive us if we don’t forgive one another. Nothing in there about having a priest interceding for you.

Um, yes, you did too say “sac”!!!

I think the problem most of us are having is that you’ve harshly criticized others who have doubts about other Church teachings, yet don’t seem to hold yourself to the same standards. Which throws doubt on your self-proclaimed status as the “one true Catholic apostle”.

No, I follow my Catholic faith, like I said, I am against abortion, what problem do you have with this? BTW, there is only ONE teaching, the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Catholic church…👍

I could not find your Bible verse that you referenced. Please check again so I can see what you are sharing.
