Young people today do not relate to organized religion.

But there are those who are having their eyes open.

You may have some misconception as well about Catholics…we have as many as we can have…but if finance and health are detrimental to the family’s well being, we have the right to limit our number of children.

Check out Natural Family Planning…it works! Much safer for a woman’s body, no chemicals or contraceptions…only one to two days a month a woman can’t get pregnant…

And there are those who used birth control and still had children.

Birth control has a terrible impact on society…a false sense of being safe and then you have an unwanted pregnancy, many times from non-committed affairs either inside or outside of marriage, the loss of self control, the facilitating of promiscuity and the diseases that go with it as well as one’s self respect…seculars can’t see the consequences which Pope Paul VI had forewarned…laugh all you want.

I think it’s a serious problem when someone who proports to be a catholic claims a baby in the womb is a ‘‘sac’’ and questions if the baby in the womb is actually a life.

Technicaly speaking it isn’t a baby in the same sense a baby isn’t an adult. Those are two different stages of human life. The argument behind the evil of abotion from the moment of conception isn’t that a zygote is a baby but that a zygote is a human. The first is an appeal to emotion, and the second is an appeal to reason and morality.

Calling a life, blessed by God in the womb, a ‘‘sac’’ is dehumanising and does not recognise the blessing for what it is - a God given gift.

Such terms are offensive.

A ‘‘sac’’ is not a life, it’s a sac. A hollow empty bag.

If a human, a life, is classified as merely a ‘‘sac’’ it makes it easier to deny it all it’s worth and integrity and value as a life, a human, a person.

That’s my objection to the term ‘‘sac’’ when refering to the gift of life from God.

And I’ve yet to hear a woman who is in the early stages of preganancy refer to the ‘‘sac’’ in her womb, as oppsed to the ‘‘baby’’ in her womb.

So your technicalities of when is a baby a baby is a moot point.
 
I don’t think modern culture and Catholicism work well together…I can see people jump all over this comment.

I am referring to a talk given on EWTN, the program focusing on talks given by Chesterton. And I am also referring to the latter 15 years of my children’s experience in modern Catholic schools. It isn’t about catechesis.

It is about the fast tempo, the competition to be number one in everything, and cramming all sorts of activities into a single day without much reflection, and the accomplishment of creating something about nilch.

My children’s first parochial school was headed by a pastor who graduated from a secular university in business, got the call later in life, and became one of the best pastors in the city. His first assignment was to head the orphans of Seattle, and I remember his picture with them…he never lost his heart of a child.

He’d visit the kids at the grade school every day, with all his funny names and actions, walking around the room like Frankenstein, doing little dances, and so on. For the adults, you don’t mess with him.

We had one sister who headed the school. They wanted the school to be for everyone. You have 10 kids and you pay $1000 a year tuition. Daily Mass started and when it ended, school started. The church was always packed. Father talked the same to everyone. You would think it was Sunday. He’d take each class to confession every 2 months. He wore two hearing aids. He would always begin telling the kids he was not recording devices, but something to help him hear better.

The kids had a blacktop playground, a swingset, and monkey bars, plus a few barrels full of balls and ropes. That was it. The neighborhoods comprised of working to lower middle class project houses. What I liked alot about the school was how calm and quiet it was, and they didn’t have the kids in a lot of frantic activities…as well as the parents being forced to do x number of volunteer work. The mothers helped out in fund raising guilds.

And in academics the school was number one in Western Washington.

According to Chesterton, people need quiet to think, reflect, pray to connect the intellect into creating something.

When I hear women calling their unborn baby a sac, it is degrading, but they are products of their environment.

Human life begins at conception, and this is the conviction of all Catholics…I don’t know how others, however zealous, can think otherwise.

Get a copy of the Universal Catechism and start studying if you think otherwise.

I love to get on this site and look at people struggling in the same way I do, the same way Christ did as a human (though he did much better than us). Sin is everywhere, it tears us away from God over and over; it is only by the mercy of God that our sins are forgiven. Thatis why we celebrate the sacrament of confession. We celebrate because we accept God’s mercy and appreciate the sacrafice He made for us. It is a sacrament because it bestows grace on us, and it thereby bestows upon us a closer relationship with God (not priest). Humble yourself to admit your sins…

What I wish I saw less of are personal attacks on one another. People will always disagree on these types of subjects. Let it be known though: There is only ONE TRUTH! ONE WAY! ONE LIGHT!.. We all can agree on that. Christians in general must share one thing…that which is God…Jesus was God…what is Jesus, what is GOD? What do we all need in us?

Guy’s statement reflects the mind of the Catholic Church on this issue ("it’s a human life, not just a ‘sac’).

Yours reflects the mind of the pro-choice movement (“it’s just a sac”). A ‘sac’ can be thrown into the garbage. :mad:

Well, you seem to know-it-all don’t you. I tell you I am against abortion, and you tell me I am not…go figure. And I am a Catholic, a Roman Catholic, proud to be in the church Christ established. What is your excuse? And if you are Catholic, you are a very angry one.

:confused: You seem to have gotten the idea somewhere that Eastern Rite Catholics are not “real” Catholics. Another area where you differ with what the True Church actually teachers.

Stop! Please, the two of you are arguing who is a true catholic! Catechism and christianity are the way to eternal salvation, but were any of you in mass the other week? Who is the greatest?

Is it not clear to each of you that you have both been created in the image of Christ! God himself has distilled in each of you the thoughts and talents you have. His plan is being made here and now. Open your ears and love! In the name of Christ and all he lived and died for, please!

Listen to yourselves. Forgive each other for the things you each said, let the love show, that is the only way to walk in the path of Christ. What are you trying to prove? And to who?

Excuse me. Every time I post, this so called Christin seems to constantly begins her arrogance toward me for whatever reasons she has. She is over dramatic and a bit too much for me. And as for your church answer, I am in church at least 3 times per week.
