Confession on Holy Saturday?

The Church does not approve of the Sacrament on Holy Saturday.

In fact it should not be administered between Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

In fact I received the Sacrament today but that only because my work prevents me from getting to the Church at the usual time.

Can you find the source that says this? I recall having Confessions on Holy Saturday in the past at my Parish and we are pretty orthodox, following the “rules”.

As a matter of fact there are Confessions today at the usual times for a Saturday. You can see our Holy Week schedule here aquinaschurch.org/vm/uploadedfiles/sec68840_Holy_Week_2007_Color.htm

Our parish does confessions on Holy Saturday only for those people in RCIA who are being fully received into the Church at the Vigil Mass tonight. Those not yet baptised are invited to have a private conversation with our pastor if they wish but do not receive the sacrament.

How would you explain this?
  1. All celebration of the sacraments on this day is strictly prohibited, except for the sacraments of penance and anointing of the sick. Funerals are to be celebrated without singing, music, or the tolling of bells. (Paschale Solemnitatis, January 16, 1988)

The last ime I checked "the sacrament of penance" from your quote was te same thing as going to “Confession” or receiving 'Reconcilliation"

The sacraments then that would be prohibited would be the Sacrament of Matrimony [marriage], Holy Orders [ordination]. As the sacramens of Initiation [Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist] will occur at the Vigil, they are appropriate for the day [at the Vigil Liturgy]. No regular daily Mass would be said, etc…

Exactly. The OP was asking if “Confession” (Sacrament of Penance) was celebrated today, thus it can be!
 
Indeed! There’s one church near me that has as part of it mission to make confession easily available for those who want it. For that reason they had several hours scheduled even for Easter Sunday itself!
