I cannot p(name removed by moderator)oint how I became so hardened. I used to be known for being selfless, caring, and empathetic.
You have been hurt. Try to p(name removed by moderator)oint when this happened. Try to p(name removed by moderator)oint the moment you said to yourself, “I just don’t care anymore.” When you find that moment. Tell yourself that you do care and realize that the hardened shell is just a weak protection from further pain.

Yes and patience. Cherish the moments when you notice something beautiful, good or kind. Maybe it may be just a passing moment but you will see it and smile. In time you will see more because you will begin to look for those moments.

There is so much hurt in this world, it is hard not to be cynical and hard. We see so much of it we forget to look for the beauty that is hidden.

Don’t give up and yourself.

Thanks for this. I am always trying to be good.

Just reveal your soul to the confessional. It doesn’t matter what orientation you have, what matters is the relationship between Christ and yourself.

I think they have. Otherwise I would stop going. Not to say I could not be better. I do not know but I feel like I have learned to see the good in people. Maybe that is a grace from God.

I always attend mass. I confess regularly. I am still s a self absorbed and selfish person. I do not take responsibility for my actions. I thought confessions was good enough. I know objectively that I am wrong but I feel no remorse or deep sense of conviction. It is like I do not care that I am a bad person it just hurts my ego. I do not want to be seen as one.
In principle, Sacraments, in this case Confession, should change us in some ways because it is God’s grace. “… he who is forgiven much, loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” (Lk 7:47)

Do you feel forgiven? Do you feel that God forgives you when you confess your sins? How do you feel before, during and after confession? Do you believe that you are a new person having been forgiven of your sins?

I know, it is difficult to feel it literally because of things unseen but bottom line, you should believe that this is what happening in the Sacrament of Confession.

It is nice to experience forgiveness for the wrong that we have done. We can only experience that when we really believe that what we had done was indeed wrong/sinful.

I think you should try this first otherwise your Confession is just merely you trying to fulfill the law or obligation which is required of you.

Sometimes we get blockages in our (bodily) ears but it passes. We know there is a sound through our other senses.

Your sharp intellect and the well formed conscience you have been gifted with are standing you in very good stead, not to mention the Holy Spirit who works unseen.

In those circumstances feeling “joyful and bouncing” while we would much rather, doesn’t have to happen, necessarily.

You continue to feel your wrongs in your conscience and that is evidence of the Holy Ghost’s continuing work. You have many constructive ideas for ongoing living.

Confession should make something of a difference over time. I used to commit a certain sin 2 or 3 times a week. Now its about once a week. Once isn’t good, but I’m improving. So it may be that it will take you time to overcome your worst sins. Why not focus on one area of your life at a time? What is the biggest problem for you at the moment?

It may be also that you sometimes need to put yourself into a more contrite frame of mind before going to confession. This Psalm works for me (Psalm 51/52 depending on how you want to number them).

I think I underestimate. They probably have in ways that are immeasurable.
