I’m new here, and I’m sorry if this is the wrong forum, or if anything wrong with this.
But, I have a question about confessions and sins, and I’m worried if I’m doing anything wrong. The question may seem odd so I don’t mind if you think that.
-When I go to confessions, I’m afraid to tell the priest a few sins that I commited, because they are really wrong. I need some help or advice, I’m really afraid to tell the priest to tell some of my sins.
You may find it weird, but then it’s worrying me alot, I still have a few sins I haven’t confessed. I need some advice.
I would think the Priest has heard lots worse that what ever you may have to confess…you should not be afraid.
You are right though to be concerned about hiding mortal sins (if they were mortal…you say they are really bad…)…the Holy Spirit is perhaps urging you to come clean…and get to confession…
If they are mortal sins …they need to be confessed. We are obliged to confess
all mortal sins in number and kind (adultery 3x, murder 2x…though sometimes we do not know and have to approximate…around 5 x…even at times “many x”) (and circumstance that changes the sin…like it was your brother you murdered)
Unfortunately … if we hide …if we withhold …even one mortal sin…the absolution will be invalid…and such is then another sin…and we need to then confess that sin (which is also grave matter for mortal sin) along with the mortal sins you hid …and all the other mortal sins that we confessed in that confession …or usually since…
So hiding a mortal sin… just adds to the trouble …for either we confess all the mortal sins we are conscious of or in reality …we confess none…(I am not talking about forgetting them…that is different…in such a case one is though obliged to confess them in the next confession after you remember them) (note to those readers who are scrupulous…listen to your confessor and do not scruple with “what if” etc…)
Now I can not say for sure that such was the case with you…I imagine it can be the case that someone tries to make an honest confession and hides something without knowing that one cannot do that…etc…But really…
you need to go see a Priest in confession and tell him what happened (and I would confess the other mortal sins as I noted above).
That is if they were mortal sins …you need to examine your conscience for them…and for the others (mortal sins) that you already confessed in those bad confessions (as noted above) and those since the bad confessions…and you need go and make a good confession (make an appointment with a Priest perhaps)…(one would of course wait for communion until then)
The Priest can help you if you ask him…I am sure this happens to others…the Priest can help you get things right here…just tell him what happened…and bring all your mortal sins…confess them…be sorry and amended for them…and then rejoice!
There really is no need to be afraid…the Priest has heard many many things…
Be not afraid
Jesus is the Good Shepherd …he loves you…and he wants to forgive you and give you his life. If you have committed mortal sins…you need to confess them all…then you will know again* true life*.
