  1. Let’s not judge, lest we be judged 2) Zundrah is a girl (hence, “Jennifer”) 3) Zundrah is in RCIA classes 4) God bless you.
1.The judgement came through her comment of the church. 2. He or she is besides the point. 3. It sounds liker her heart is not open for RCIA or she would not have said such an comment. 4. God bless you too and especialy the lost!👍

I just don’t think it’s very inviting to rock someone’s world with quips about the ignorance of their religion and their potentially-lost soul. There are more tactful ways to go about saying things. If I had heard a statement like that so much as uttered during the infancy-period of my faith, I would have walked away immediately. I get what you’re saying, I do, Jake, but please - Jennifer needs hope, not despair. God bless her heart; it’s not easy to find Truth in a world filled with lies.

I understand, but one will not find the truth without courage and humility. Sometimes a child needs a scolding to get there attention, aloot of the time it is then they sit back and observe the mistakes and errored thaughts they have committed. You are right though, one should only show love and turn the other cheeck, yet It is hard to see so many poeple pose as Catholics or not and bash the Church given from Christ and then watch these same poeple having the odasity to say they are christians!

Welcome to my ignore list Jake. I like Jennifer, and I think she has had enough bashing to satisfy those who feel they are perfect.

And, if they are perfect, what need do they have for Jesus at all?

Zundrah is an impetuous young person with a lot of mixed feelings and opinions. She does make some inappropriate comments, but I do think she is ready for RCIA.

I agree, but it is an opportunity for us to pray, and show a character that is a better model.
Some people have never had the benefit of observing an appropriate response to calumny.

Jennifer if you wish to remain a member of this forum I must warn about saying things like this. I know of no Protestant who has rejected anything to knowingly allow for immorality. We expect Protestants to obey a certain standard when they discuss our beliefs, lets practice the same standard 😉

If (since you have converted or are in the process of converting to Catholicism) you believe Protestants are wrong, they deserve your prayers not your mocking.

God bless you Jennifer
😛

Aww… Strawberryjam, you’re so kind to me! Thanks for looking after me while I’m away! 😃

Answersplease;5464284]I think she is talking about teaching and sanctioning immorality, such as openly gay bishops and saying that abortion and homosexuality are allowed.
This was exactlt what I meant! 😃
Sure not all protestants groups are like that, but there is at least one prominent protestant group that is.
Lol - this is soooooo true.
Zundrah, don’t let some of these Catholics scare you away from the Church built by Christ himself.
Whae I first came onto this site I have to admit that they were scaring me away from the church but they didn’t get very far! I have just finished RCIA Classes! Every one cheer! 😃 I am now a member of my roman catholic church!
Some Catholics are way to ecumenical, even to the point of not challenging anti-Catholic behaviour from some groups like anti-Catholic Jews (not all non-Christian Jews are anti-Catholic, I also promote the recognition of Jewish Catholics).
…there are such things as catholic jews? I don’t understand that… I thought that jews rejected christ as God in human form?

Answersplease, some people on this site are very harsh! 😉

Zundrah, I think you are awfully confused. How can you possibly have finished RCIA classes? The course is about a year long. And how can you be a member? Have you been confirmed?

Whatever you have been attending, I don’t believe it was RCIA.

Who has been confusing you?

Hi,

I am feeling pretty confused at the moment, and as though there is no-one I can talk to. And to be honest, posting on this forum probably isn’t going to help that much. If I ask Catholics what to do, they’ll say one thing. If I ask Protestants, they’ll say the opposite. But as I’m pretty confused and not sure what to do, I thought I might write it all out here and see what responses I get.

I am Protestant. But not really going to a church at the moment. I started off Pentecostal. Then went to an Anglican church. And that sounds like I’m not really committed to my faith. Which isn’t the case at all. My faith is my world. There is nothing I like better than discussing religion or reading books about Christianity. I have a blog about my faith. I am just about to study theology. My faith is extremely important to me.

But now, as I learn more and more about religion and Christianity, I am beginning to think that the Roman Catholic Church is the one true church. Or at the very least, it’s got to be more in line with God’s plan with any of the other Christian denominations. And so I’m very attract to Catholicism and starting to wonder whether I should become a Catholic.

But, as I said, I’m about to start studying theology at an Anglican college. And I really want to do that. If I become Catholic, what do I do then? And I love writing about Christianity. If I become Catholic, then obviously I know nothing and feel like I won’t even be able to write about it any more or even talk about it maybe. I know barely anything about Catholicism. I certainly can’t speak with any authority. And not saying I know a lot about Christianity in general. But at least I feel I know something.

This all sounds really stupid, now I’m putting it down. But it does bug me. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to give up on my love of learning about and writing about Christianity. And I want to do something else with it one day.

Also, another thing that scares me is I’m divorced. I am quite happy with my single state at the moment. But I’m not too keen on signing up for a religion that means I’ll be single for my whole life.

I know this comment sounds pretty silly. But I’ve just been thinking and thinking about it. And thought well I may as well write it out and see what people have to say.

Liz
Hi Liz. And the more you learn the more you will find the fullness of the truth in the RCC. Now if you were not marred in the Catholic CHurch at the time and did not understand the faith I don;t think you would be held to it. But now if you would get married knowing the faith and you were Catholic you would be stuck. But you cannot be held responsible for something you did not understand.

Next why would being Catholic change you writing about the faith. You could write all you wanted. Look at Scott hahn, etc. You would just have to understand the faith to write about it thats all.

God bless you in your journey whatever you decide.

One piece of advice. Pray to the Holy Spirit to lead you. Then you can’t go wrong. Good luck.

If your husband was Catholic at the time of his civil marriage, then he received a Declaration of Nullity based on “lack of form” because Catholics are required to get married in the Catholic Church.

Non-Catholics cannot get married in the Catholic Church, and so of course they don’t - but at the same time, their marriages are certainly valid, and if both non-Catholic parties to the marriage are baptized (even if not in the Catholic Church) then their marriages are also Sacramental, by virtue of the fact that they are both baptized Christians.

The Canon Law on the Sacrament of Marriage is found here. It’s quite a long section, but you will find that I have told the truth - non-Catholics are not bound by Catholic law, at the time that they are not Catholics. But if they become Catholics at a later time, then they become bound by Catholic law from the time of their conversion (not before - so any marriages they contracted before conversion are considered valid, unless there was something going on at the time that would have caused it not to be valid, such as lack of free consent, etc.)
Thats how I see it too.

…there are such things as catholic jews? I don’t understand that… I thought that jews rejected christ as God in human form?
Well, I am Jewish, but I am also a catechumen and converting to the Catholic Church. Once I convert though, I will be Catholic yes, but I will still be Jewish, because being a Jew is more than just a religion. Being Jewish is also an ethnicity, a nationality if you like. I was actually raised as a secular (non-religious) Jew but that does make me any less of a Jew than someone who is very religious. Being Catholic does not make me less of a Jew either. Its kind of like, if someone is Italian or German, it doesn’t matter what religion they are, they are still Italian or German. I hope that helps, its kind of hard to explain and I’m maybe not doing such a good job, but you can be both Jewish (ethnicity) and Christian (belief). Look at St. Paul, for example. Or St. Edith Stein. Both Jews, who converted to Christianity… but both are still Jews.

Threads seem never to make it past three pages in length, unless they’re highjacked by squabblers, name-callers, sarcastic jests, and tales of impending hell-fire for non-Catholics. Let’s bury our foolish humanity in Christ, shall we? He’ll know what to do with it.

…there are such things as catholic jews? I don’t understand that… I thought that jews rejected christ as God in human form?
Two kinds of Catholics:
1.) Jewish Catholics (original native branches that have never been cut away and chose to follow Jesus The Christ).
2.) Gentile Catholics (wild branches that have been grafted into the “True Vine”).

Two kinds of Jewish Catholics:
1.) Decendents of the first followers of Jesus The Christ (native branches that have never been cut away).
2.) Modern day converts (native branches that have been grafted back into the “True Vine”).

John 1:11
He came to His own, and those who were HIS OWN DID NOT RECEIVE HIM.
John 1:12
But AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, to them He gave the right to become CHILDREN OF GOD,
even to those who believe in His name.

Mark 3:33
Answering them, He said, “Who are My mother and My brothers?”
Mark 3:34
Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!”
Mark 3:35
“For whoever DOES THE WILL OF GOD, he is My brother and sister and mother.”

Some Jews followed Jesus The Christ.
Some Jews rejected Jesus The Christ.

All who receive Jesus The Christ are The Children Of God.

Saint Paul:
Acts 22:3
“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel, strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.”

The modern Catholic Church is composed of Jews who are the descendents of the first Jewish Catholics, and modern Jewish converts to Catholicism, and descendents of the first Gentile Catholics, and modern Gentile converts to Catholicism.

The Catholic Church claims that Catholicism is the fulfillment of Judaism.

The Catholic Church was founded by a Jew (Jesus The Christ) on a Jew (St. Peter) and composed of Jews (the Apostles and early Jewish followers), the Catholic Church has always been the fulfillment of the Judeo-Christian heritage.

paperwight;5478768]Zundrah, I think you are awfully confused.
Not at all!
How can you possibly have finished RCIA classes?
The first section i have completed, it will beggin again in september!
The course is about a year long. And how can you be a member?
I filled in a membership form!
Have you been confirmed?
Would you comfirm a protestant? I don’t think so! I will be comfrimed next easter, the priest told me!
Whatever you have been attending, I don’t believe it was RCIA.
😛
Who has been confusing you?
Everyone! This site has a small amount of very strange ill educated people on it! I have been told soooo many different things! :o

Well, go ahead with your plans for now. It’s not like this is a decision that can never be changed. If you are unhappy with your decision later, you can change schools, go back to another school for an advanced degree, etc.

Depending upon the school you have chosen you may be exposed to very Catholic-like ideas, or you may be exposed to some very un-Catholic ideas. If you are also reading Catholic authors, the Early Church Fathers, and Scripture… you’ll know quickly which is which and whether this is the right school for you.

Well, really, the possibilities are limitless (unless you are woman, in which case Ordination is not an option). I suggest you read about Dr. Scott Hahn. He went to a protestant theology seminary, became a pastor, then we he converted to Catholicism he too thought the same thoughts. He is now a Catholic theology professor at Steubenville.

I suggest you read his books, and look at the vast number of highly educated non-Catholics who then converted. There are lots of them. Education is never a waste, and God will find a way to use you wherever you find yourself.

Liz, take things one step at a time. If you think you are being called to the Catholic Church pursue it. It doesn’t mean you have to give up on any of your dreams to learn, to write, or to be married someday even. Should you pursue the Catholic Church you should look at a decree of nullity. I suggest the book Annulment: The Wedding That Was by Michael Smith Foster if you want to learn more.

And, your comments are NOT silly.
Just because you want to become Cahtolic doesn’t mean you can’t study or learn about other religions. Think about there are priests that can tell you about different religions, why, because they studied them and you are no different then they are. There are a lot of divored people in the Catholic faith, they may look down on it but i say how many of them have never done anything wrong, how many of them are perfect, how many of them never sinned how many of them follow the faith like they should, even the priests are not perfect. some smoke some drink a bit too much i know because i have seen it first hand.I am a former Catholic and these, like you described, among many other reasons is why i left and became a Baptist. I am a minister but i preach non-denominational. It may seem strange a Baptist preaching non-dom. but i go to nursing homes and there are different religions there thats why i preach non-dom. When we have the Lords supper i use the Catholic version or words. So follow what is in your heart, don’t give up on your studies, and if the Catholic faith is what you are comfortable with then go for it. Remember only you can make that decession. NO religion is wrong as long as they believe in God and teach His teachings. There isn’t one true religion, if you beleive in God and whats in your heart we all are one religion, just different names and different ways to worship the same God, we are all Christians and God is the same in all of them. He claims no religion preference, just to believe and have faith in Him.
I hope this helped you. God Bless
