Well let’s just see what your “holy father” believes about this. Which, by the way, if you believe he is Catholic and you believe you are in communion with him, you must believe also.

Joseph Ratzinger, Zenit News story, Sept. 5, 2000:** “[W]e are in agreement that a Jew, and this is true for believers of other religions, does not need to know or acknowledge Christ as the Son of God in order to be saved…”**
What follows this statement is very important.

If it continues “…if they are innocently ignorant of Christ and His Church.”, then there would be no heresy. In fact, this would simply be a reinteration of the Church’s perennial teaching.

If, on the other hand, he was saying that you can reject Christ and His Church and be saved, this is obviously heretical.

I looked up the article, and it’s exactly as I thought. Jim28 has taken the Holy Father’s words out of context in order to make his statement appear heretical. This is the full statement:

"We are in agreement that a Jew, and this is true for believers of other religions, does not need to know or acknowledge Christ as the Son of God in order to be saved, if there are insurmountable impediments, of which he is not blameworthy, to preclude it. "

This is not heresy; it’s the perennial teaching of the Church. The desire of baptism and an implicit faith in Christ can lead to salvation.

The statement is still very heretical. No one can be saved unless they are incorporated into the Church through Water Baptism. Invincible ignorance cannot save someone. They may not be damned for it, but they will be damned for some other mortal sin. Perhaps the sin that keeps them in the dark from the Divine light of grace that is Christ’s Gospel.

That is simply not what the Catholic Church teaches. Read the Catechism. It may be what your Church teaches, but not the Holy Catholic Church lead by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.

The Holy Catholic Church is not lead by B16. It does not have a Pope to be the Head of it right now. It is in a Papal Interregnum.

LOL. Okay. You got one thread shut down with this silliness once. The One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church is lead by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, successor to John Paul II. If you are here to prey on new Catholics to convert them to your perversion of your own private Catholic Church, your time here will be short.
