The Congresswoman says, “But I don’t see a conflict here.” (with religious freedom.)
Every bishop in the United States disagrees.

It was sad. For some reason these elected are so wedded to evil they will not budge. Lots of doubletalk.

Representative Kathy Hochul (D - 26th District) was booed at her own town hall meeting on Friday morning in Lancaster.

The packed crowd was critical of Hochul for supporting President Obama’s planto require religiously affiliated employers, such as hospitals and schools, to provide full contraception coverage to female employees.

The plan was later altered. It now calls for those workers to get free contraceptive coverage from health insurers, thus sparing religious based groups, morally opposed to paying for birth control, from having to do so.

Even though Hochul’s town hall meeting was open to any topic, the large crowd focused on the contraception coverage issue.

When Hochul spoke in support of the President, the crowd booed. Many in the audience carried signs, including one that read: “Kathy why have you betrayed our Catholic institutions?” One woman in the crowd told Hochul: “This President has lied to us repeatedly when he proclaims support for conscience protection in his infamous speech at Notre Dame as well as in the executive order he signed following passage of the health care law. He is not worthy of your support in this matter.” Another man shouted “It’s an insult to the Catholics in this country to even listen to that gibberish. It is an absolute insult and Catholics deserve better. We were taking care of this country’s sick long before the government got involved in it.”

Pastor Leon Bienart of Our Lady of Pompeii Church also asked Hochul if the President or Congress consulted with Catholic bishops before they issued the policy. Hochul replied that it was a good question and she would try to get an answer. The Congresswoman also replied this way to the questions and criticism “We’re not gonna agree on this one. I’m gonna tell you that I will stand for our religious freedoms. But I don’t see a conflict here. Now that there’s been an accommodation that says religious institutions do not have to provide these services. So we’re just going to have to disagree on that.”

I couldn’t but then I paused and restarted the video

This was my favorite comment:

Amen!

Well done and bravo to that pastor for getting his parishioners riled up and organized to fight this thing!

This is EXACTLY what our shepherds need to be doing!

Is the “new revised” mandate even signed yet? Last I heard the President signed the “original HHS mandate”, without the revision that he later made. And then said there would be no more compromising. It was signed into law, and “he was done with the issue.” Just wondering if this new “accommodation” is going to be written up? Signed? He said one thing on National TV and did quite the opposite.

Now, this being said, possibly he will correct this down the road…(not that it makes any difference, as religiously based institutions would be paying for it to the insurance companies anyway) but the “accommodation” is not even yet a done deal, like she led on. Nor was Cardinal Dolan or any of the Bishops contacted by the administration. This was stated by Cardinal Dolan. They were not conferred with…at all. Kathleen S. had trouble with this question…kept stating she “believed” they were conferred with. Cardinal Dolan also pointed out that on the Whitehouse website there were many false and misleading statements about this. (this can be obtained via the USCCB website) Hate to be so blunt but…they lie.

Soon, she will receive a letter from the Pro Death Dem Bosses forbidding her to do any more town halls.

Hochul under fire in flap on birth control

WASHINGTON – Rep. Kathleen C. Hochul finds herself under fire from conservatives nationwide after saying last week that the federal government was “not looking to the Constitution” in drawing up a requirement that religiously affiliated employers provide their workers with insurance coverage for birth control.
National conservative voices ranging from the American Spectator to the Weekly Standard took shots at her over the statement, which Hochul made Friday at a town hall-style meeting in Lancaster.

And the National Republican Congressional Committee – which aims to defeat the Amherst Democrat in the fall election – hammered Hochul on the issue Tuesday.

“Kathy Hochul may not care about the Constitution when it comes to supporting big-government mandates, but Western New Yorkers do,” said NRCC spokesman Nat Sillin. “Hochul should read the first three words of the preamble and remember – it is ‘we the people’ who cast ballots in November.”
