As a correction to the previous post due to my failing memory. There were not 1 and1/2 tribes of Manasseh, there was one tribe of Manasseh divided in half on each side of the river Jordan.
1/2 tribe of Manasseh settled on the east side of the Jordan along with the tribe of Reuben and Gad.(Joshua 13:8 and Joshua 14:3)
Levi had no heritage of the land, for “the LORD, the God of Israel, is their heritage”. (Joshua 13:14). And they were only given cities to live in. (Joshua 14:4)
The descendants of Joseph formed two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim (Joshua 14:4).
The other 9 tribes, and the other 1/2 tribe of Manasseh were given land on the west side of the Jordan. (Joshua 13:7)
Hopefully, this explains the twelve tribes who received an inheritance of the land, and the tribe of Levi who did not receive any land for their inheritance, but ‘the LORD, the God of Israel is their heritage’.
**"…Like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." **
(1 Peter 2:5).
The more fearful question remains. As the church of the firstborn, are we offering up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ?
