Conservative Counterpart for National Catholic Reporter

I love the National Catholic Reporter and it has a beautiful website, but it has a clear liberal bias and its readers are insufferably liberal in their opinions and dissidence towards the Pope and others on a variety of issues. Does anyone know of a similar quality website that isn’t so liberal?

The National Catholic Reporter (aka, the Fishwrap) is a heretical rag which openly promotes false teachings and disobedience to the Church. It has been denounced by multiple bishops going back over 40 years. The bottom line, is that if you are looking for something which will lead you astray from the Faith, that is a great place to go looking for it.

As noted above, the National Catholic Register and Catholic World Report are both good bets. Also worth looking into are Crisis Magazine, Catholic Culture, Zenit, Catholic News Agency, The American Catholic, Catholic Vote, and Vatican Insider. There are also dozens of excellent Catholic blogs which have RSS feeds and do a great job of keeping up with Catholic News and all things related to the Church.

They are not only liberal they promote things that are not in line with Catholic teaching such as womens ordination

Don’t even follow them. What do they write? I read the New Oxford Review.

A poster attacked me because I recommended a Vatican II book for the layperson. Yes, there were uses of “liberal” and “conservative” in the book but I read past that, thinking the definitions have changed since 1962. I have a Liberal Arts and Sciences degree so it matters little to me but I’d be curious as to the Church’s definition of “liberal” or “conservative.” That is, if there is any.

The journalism from what I have seen rarely blatantly challenges Church social positions; rather, it has a subtle bias that promotes stuff like gay marriages and ordinations for women.

The real killer part is the comments. I haven’t so far found a single member of the peanut gallery there who doesn’t want female ordination and contraception. Also, many of them have expressed that they want parishes to be autonomous from bishops, and want bishops to be elected. Some have even suggested a popular vote for the Pope.

And I want to make clear that when I said I “liked” the NCR I simply meant that they have a really quality website with a variety of features. But their content is inexcusable.

What I meant by liberal is that they implicitly and sometimes explicitly support women’s ordination, contraception, abortion, and changes to the hierarchical structure of the Church. That would fall into “liberal” Catholicism in my opinion, though I wouldn’t expect there to be a definition issued by the Church on that, because in the Church’s eyes there shouldn’t be any factions or left-right continua in the Church–just obedience.

No paper edition of which I am aware, but that’s true of an increasing number of publications.
