John McCain is no political hero. He flip-flopped on immigration when it suited him and he thought he could win by being nice and that the media loved him because he was another entrenched incumbent.

The difference is that the democrat extremists not only control their party but are now in charge of this nation for at least another 2, probably 4 years.

This will be one very long night for this country.
Did I claim he was a hero? No, I simply implied that in the 2008 election he was too much of a gentleman to subscribe to Kenyan-Muslim-‘insert undesirable adjective here’, gutter politics.

Yes but the people cleansed out are not going to be there to hear Deacon Lapey or another member of the clergy to hear what your church presents as the truth.
I’m sure someone, somewhere wishes they actually has the power to actually ‘cleanse’ anything.

No, demand that they conform their conscience to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, or recognize, publicly and official, that those who will not have placed themselves outside of communion with the Church. And that IS how it worked until Vatican II.
So it is assumed beforehand that their consciences are not in conformity with the Church? When was the population conscience scanner developed? My, we must be on the cutting edge of technology!

This is a Catholic forum. I fail to understand why some are surprised that others here are fiercely defensive of their Catholic beliefs.

If you think that there are proportional reasons to support a political party that advocates for abominations like abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia, etc…, then I will say that in MY opinion, your conscience is not properly formed. OF course, ultimately, GOd is the judge. I am just a fruit inspector. I would just not let any of that fruit in my house. I prefer my family to be healthy.

Who’s surprised? The election results were no surprise to me for exactly that reason: I saw the same behavior last election and could tell God was not impressed by those who would break His commandments to ‘defend’ them.

Nope, but I can compare what people say they believe, who they publicly support, and who they declare they vote for and compare that with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Papal Encyclicals. I have my own “conscience scanner” and can decide for myself who I affiliate with. I don’t want to be “unequally yoked”.

Many thanks for your opinion of my conscience. I’m quite fine with how it’s functioning, but I appreciate your concern.

Exactly. That’s how people exercise conscience and rational thought processes, to make decisions for themselves - NOT for other people.

This is a very interesting comment. :hmmm: Very revealing also.

Yes and I know God let some walk away in Jn 6. But no one cleansing your church to my knowledge is God. None of us walk on water.
It is His Church and God is cleansing it. But those who are criticizing and mocking her teachings are directing that sarcasm specifically toward those who are trying to lead holy lives. They aren’t interested in what the Church is or has to offer - they only want to take from those who have found their faith and believe!

One other question if I may? Which Commandments are being broken?

This confuses me. As a Catholic you didn’t like Vatican II and what transpired from it? Don’t you believe God was leading the Catholic Church during and after Vaican II as He was before?

Oh, I know. That was just more of my frustration over his ineffective campaign.

The whole Kenyan-Muslim thing really isn’t something I subscribe to or like.

If this president is a Muslim, he’s the only one I know of who goes to church monthly or so and sends his kids to a Quaker school, and I’ve known some decent Muslims in my time.

And Kenyan? That sounds a little dingy. So was calling Mitt Romney “The Mexican”.

Comes off bad.

What the right should be doing is calling out the hypocrisy of elite democrats and RINOs who tout public education but send their kids to private school.

I’m also sure that some Muslims would warm up to the GOP if they actually ran on conservative principles at the national level.

Your anger is really showing through on this thread…maybe the mods will shut it down now. But first a bump on Pete’s post:

👍

This gives the President more leverage in upcoming negotiations. McConnell is up for reelection in 2014 and Boehner is on the two-year treadmill. The President will never run again.

A number of analysts I have read or heard believe that the GOP will have to stand up to its more radical elements and look to be working for the people if they want to make gains in 2014 and be competitive in 2016.
(boldface above, mine)
You think not?

I wouldn’t bet on it.

He’ll figure out a way. It will probably have something to do with “in the interests of national security.”

Why are people still replying to CMatt25’s comments?

Apparently he has an axe to grind with Conservatives and Catholics (read, anyone who disagree’s with him).
