No, I wasn’t able to :(. I was only able to go to Good Friday and Easter Sunday. How was it for you?
We have a new Pastor this year, so it was just a little different. Just small details that the average Joe in the Pew would never see or notice, but still a very powerful experience.

Good Friday was good also, even though I couldn’t stay for all of it.

Easter vigil, we brought 10 people into the Church through the Sacraments, so of course that was great.

All in all, I would have to say a darn moving and powerful Triduum I would say.

Amen!!!

I have been running our parish’s RCIA program for almost 20 years now. Just when you think you have the little fires under control a forest fire is coming up begind you…lol
Our RCIA director filters a lot of the fires from the rest of us. You know that eventually, there comes a peace.

It all works out in the end. Our Bishop has commented on our program more than once, which of course alleviates any and all pressure. 😃

Since I am stepping down this year, I have been training a new director for the last 18 months or so.

I have to laugh at him. He says, “I never knew you did so much. I thought you liked to just sit around.”

I am the kind that when the deacons or the pastor say, “You need to do…”, I just smile and show them it is already done. I am such a type A about these things it isn’t funny. 😛

You deserve a rest. 🙂

Also, thought I’d share that my mother said that she read a Georgetown article about how many Catholics that left the Church are coming back…then promptly gave me a weeks notice that I’m to go to Mass again next Sunday 😉
I’d be one of those. I was a recovering Pentecostal attending my best friend’s Methodist church, but I’ve just come back in the last few weeks. It was a process that took me quite awhile, a lot of it spent in denial that I was even entertaining the notion.

I’ll be praying for you! 👍

Hello Sarah and welcome. 🙂

LW,
Im assuming you being EQP that you are going to have to at least watch the priesthood session of conference (assuming you dont have to work?)
I’m off this weekend, so I’ll be watching most of GC. I’ll be missing the Saturday evening session though since I’m going to the NY Auto Show, haha, so I’ll watch/read that session later. Priesthood session I’ll watch on Sunday, I never go to the meetinghouse to watch that (too lazy), so I’ll wait until they put it online (odd that they don’t broadcast that session live like the others, though they put it up on the website with the other sessions the next day.
Havent been able to read all of your posts due to my own schedule but have you had an movement when it comes to your calling?
I know you expressed your responsibility and duty to it even as you are discerning your future.

No, no movement. I haven’t been church in a couple weeks, besides about 20 minutes for EQ one week. Surprisingly no one has attempted to find out how I’m doing or anything (probably because I still send out my weekly emails, so it’s not like I completely disappeared). Our bishop just moved, so there will be a change with that, so we’ll see. Our RS President was also released (she was called and sustained at the same time as me), as she aged out (YSA ward). Wish I could’ve just been released along with her :p. If anything, I think that being EQP kind of gets in the way of my personal spirituality, at least at this point.

Hello living waters,
I was a convert to the LDS church many years ago and I left after being active 1 year and inactive a few more. One thing that really helped me was the Book of Mormon. Most LDS/anti LDS are centered upon the historicity of the BOM. Don't worry about that. For me the BOM was true with respect to it's description of the World of Religion. By standing on the shoulders of the BOM it helped guide me through the maze of religions.

Hello, Superwimp (love that! 😃 ) and welcome of CAF.

If you have the time, you may enjoy reading LW’s posts as he discerns God’s faith journey for him. It’s worth the read. A real sincere openness to what is truth and willingness to spend the time in research. 🙂

God Bless

Welcome!

Anyway…can you share your reasons on how you came about to believe “was true with respect to it’s description of the World of Religion”?

And can you share your description of what you mean by World of Religion? I have not heard of this term before. Thanks.

So you are saying the claims about the historicity of the Book of Mormon are lies but some it is true? So it is only part honest?

Hello,

texan knight>>>So you are saying the claims about the historicity of the Book of Mormon are lies but some it is true? So it is only part honest? <<<

I was saying that it doesn’t matter whether or not the Nephites and Lamanites actually ever existed or not. The BOM or any book should be based on the value it provides to an individual. LW is presently on a which church is true quest. IMO the BOM provides valueable insight in that regards.

The world of religion consist of all the church heirarchy of all the sects within Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, hinduism, etc. The BOM provides definitions for both the gospel and priestcraft, and it provides details of a dream where a mist is created to prevent individuals from finding the truth.

S So a book that lies about what it is is valuable about holy doctrines? That is pretty odd.

At some point, the mormon leadership believed the people in the book of mormon were real, or they would not have issued this letter.

Are you saying the first presidency is wrong in this matter?

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

So, is the book of mormon true, or fiction?

Superwimp,
Just read your meet and greet.

First, thank you for your service to our country.

Second, sounds like you have a very different faith journey than most of us here.
Third, I have never heard of Edgar Cayse (sp?)…
Im guessing from what you wrote that your understanding of Mormonism is very limited. And that you have been out of Mormonism since the 70’s? Have you had any ongoing contact with the LDS church since then? 🙂

Living Waters, how is your journey progressing? I know you have been doing an awful lot of research etc, and a lot of people are praying for you, but may I ask you a question? Do you believe that JS was a prophet of God? If the answer is no, then could you remain in the LDS church? If yes, then obviously the LDS church is the only true church, why would you leave it? Many years ago when I was investigating the church, the missionary handbook directed the missionaries to ‘create the need for a prophet’, notice they were not directed to create the need for a saviour. But the reason they were so directed is that the whole of LDS credibility, all of its claims regarding the restoration, translation of the BOM and BOA, all those specifically mormon beliefs, such as celestial marriage, baptism for the dead etc, all rest on him. If you do not have a testimony that he was THE prophet of the restoration, then come home. However attractive the LDS faith might be, and however strongly attached to it you are, it all boils down, to that question. Was Joseph Smith a prophet of God?

Just a note, our Lord Jesus promised he would always be with us (the Church) and the Holy Spirit would be with us (the Church) forever, do you believe that he made an empty promise, ie that he knew that the church would apostasise to the extent that he would abandon it and have to restore it? Why would he make a promise that he would not keep?

Hi Superwimp (don’t believe that for one minute), this may be off topic so you might want to start a new thread, but how did the BoM guide you?
