Excuse me, who is getting knocked off their horse? You didn’t bother to back up any of your statements. Did you even look at the threads I linked? To bring one of the points I brought up in another thread, would the immense influence of freemasonry on classical music mean that Haydn (and others) is bad for your soul? Simply saying something doesn’t make it true if you can’t justify it in a sensible manner.

Anyway, this is off-topic. If you realy want to discuss this, you can make a separate thread in Popular Media.

To some extent, sure. The fall of the Middle Ages was done through the arts, because it is Man’s tendencies in his actions and way of living that eventually give way to ideas and then revolutions. All the sentimentality in the arts that did not exist in the Middle Ages eventually became the driving force of a revolution no one realize was happening. Every other one, the Protestant, the French, the Communist revolution had a reaction to it.

The Rennaisance entered with out a single cry.
The Devil and masonry at it’s best.

This is an quote from a book written by Plinio Correa de Oliveira called Revolution and Counterrevolution.

Now his followers have now fallen in to sedevacante stuff and the sort, not following him in his ideas after his death, so the group split in two, one faithful to the pope and one all messed up, but the man was an excellent Catholic writer and this was his prime work. I suggest you stay clear from these people, as they are condemned by several bishops, because after Plinio’s death they went crazy. But this book is not modified, so it is his real work.

Everything has a revolution like reaction to it! Every action we take has an effectk, it just depends what type of reaction and revolution it had. Democracy was born as a reaction to a overestending monarchy. Catholisism was born as a reaction to Jesus. Not all change is bad, a idea can help as well as hurt. Man has both the tendencie to hurt as well as to help, it just depends what human beings choose.

Now, to the important question. As you may know some christian songs can come from non-christian bands. What i’m saying not all bands proffess themselves as catholic or christian to get more fans, they just play they’re music to the people. And at times the songs can be very christian as well. Remember not all christian songs have to directly worship God, they can also teach us about the morals he taught us, and life as well. Here are some links to some songs that you may like.

I’ve never heard Rammstein, but if you’re looking for Christian metal, my top faves are:
Saviour Machine and Veni Domine are both a little more goth/doom (though Saviour Machine also incorporates lots of orchestral stuff). The other three would be classified as power metal (with Narnia being neoclassical, Theocracy being symphonic, and Divinefire sort of a mix between the two).

I have JUST started a Christian (Catholic) music project called Last Rites. It is probably best described as a thrash metal project. It is, at the moment, just me. Please visit the myspace (link in sig) and let me know what you think. I have two demos up at the moment. One is the Anima Christi prayer, and the other is an anti-porn song.

I have not read the whole thread :eek: but I wanted to add that Once Dead (formerly Vengeance Rising) is a great thrashy band. Doug Thieme (guitarist) is Catholic. I am also a big fan of Pantokrator!

You know…I went home and I about kicked myself for not mentioning the two truly Catholic bands that I know of.

First is Illuminandi. They are a Polish Gothic/Death/Hardcore metal band. They have a cello, violin and the usual metal goodness. They are 100% Catholic. Website:

Second is Fratello Metallo. He is the metal monk from Italy. I have heard good stuff about it (and very Catholic!) although I haven’t gotten around to getting his album.

I didn’t know that Seven Sorrows was on Myspace :eek: . I remember checking them out a while back and liked what I heard. I will definitely have to go by their myspace page!
 
I’ll admit that I haven’t read this entire thread, so if I repeat something someone else said forgive me!

One of my favorite bands is Demon Hunter. I think at least one the members may be Catholic, because he is almost always pictured wearing a rosary (I saw them in concert and he wore a rosary as well), and he has a tattoo of the Sacred Heart. Also, the video for their song “Undying” is set in a Catholic church, and the entire band is seen crossing themselves with Holy Water as they enter. I have all of their albums, and to my knowledge there is nothing in their music that contradicts Catholic teaching.

In no particular order, some of my other favorite Christian metal bands include: As Cities Burn, Inhale/Exhale, Haste the Day, Mychildren Mybride, Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Extol, The Famine, Zao, Project 86, and Gwen Stacy.
 
Just going to reiterate on the Thirsting, I was actually the drummer for about six months, but CHECK EM OUT. I am not with them anymore, but they are are hard rock catholic for sure. myspace.com/wearethethirsting

My two favorite bands are not Catholic, but they are made of Christian members and their music has very Christian overtones:

I love Switchfoot… they have a new album coming out around July! 😃

Oooh, and another great artist who I just discovered- Francesca Battistelli. Her voice is beautiful, her songs are catchy, and she’s very Christian!
