Wanton promiscuity causes STDs, unwanted children, aborted humans, single mothers, and broken homes…

  1. You originally posted “just do not have sex” is not a good policy for AFrica. A fair position. I responded and gave reasons why I disagreed. We didn’t find common ground which is fine.
  2. You also responded to post I made about how spouse isn’t “innocent” if marry someone with warning signs of being a serial philanderer that contracts AIDS. You used strawman that that’s not always case, when I said “not 100%” of time is there warning signs.
  3. You then posted new questions but accompanied them with childish language like “you may think you answered anything. But let’s be clear. You did not”, which is a pity because I was enjoying our exchange up to that point.

So to be clear?

I stated we are worlds apart and let’s focus on the issues today. And posted the questions.

You decided to refrain from responding. Based upon “childish responses” and to be clear again and hopefully the last time. Yes you did not make any point.

Is that the case?

The reason I am asking. As this still goes unanswered, obviously I will ask it again.

I ask any other Catholic to please asnwer this.
  1. A married couple … what should they do regarding marital relations if one is HIV+
  2. A country (like my own) is paralysed in a way because the workforce is HIV+ or have full blown Aids. What can they do? This is a problem of huge proportions affecting everyone here in some way. What can we do?
Thank you!

I didn’t make any point, yet we’re worlds apart 😆

You do not need to “make a point” so it be evident we are both in agreement. If I am wrong about what you are saying then ENLIGHTEN ME. That is what I am asking!

But it feels like I am falling into your trap of sidestepping the questions.

Just say you do jot have an answer. Really. Or otherwise attempt an answer.

Wow. The attitudes in some of the posts here are just appalling. Personally, I think it is shameful that the Church doesn’t show more leadership with regards to this issue. What I find more appalling, though, is that the people living in these geographical areas listen to anything the Church says, since this has been bungled so poorly.

I just find it funny this article was written, yet Africa has become vastly more Catholic than Europe and is becoming the new land of Christendom.

I am bored most of the time. I go on CAF so life gets more interesting. The very very sad thing is… … it actually does!

Just curious, did either of you read the post upthread about the rate of HIV compared to the percentage of Catholics in particular countries?

Or is is simply more fun to whine about them mean ol’ Catholics?

Sure. It doesn’t solve the problem though. The AIDS crisis is rampant and needs to be managed. The Catholic Church has a lot of pull in these geographical areas. It is a disservice to not take a leadership role, in my opinion. The Church has the means to help take a big bite out of what is going on, and quickly, and instead sits by and does nothing other than to talk about sexual sin. It is a real missed opportunity, one that comes with loss of life.

So the answer is “I read the parts I liked and rejected the parts that didn’t please me.”

Okey dokey

That isn’t correct. I read all of it. I just came to a conclusion different than the one you came to. Doesn’t the Catholic Church have a responsibility for all of God’s children, not just the ones who are RC?

Not sure I said anything related to what you just posted.

My questions/points are just as valid with or without that post (yes I read it and still see no relevance to the way you made it to be).

No mean Catholics from me ;).

Just pure realistic everyday questions. Please feel free to answer them if you can. That is what one would call a real world problems.

Do you live in one of those areas? Can you please concretely suggest what leadership role the church is supposed to take?

I do. And I ask this question.

A country (like my own) is paralysed in a way because the workforce is HIV+ or have full blown Aids. What can they do? This is a problem of huge proportions affecting everyone here in some way. What can we do?

Like i did before on here.

So what does that look like to you?
In other words, what would “Catholic Leadership” look like?

Spot on.

It’s incredibly selfish for an infected spouse to insist on having sex with the non-infected partner even with a condom.

Condoms do have some measure of protection but they have a high failure rate. Instead of playing Russian roulette with a full set of bullets, it’s like playing Russian roulette with 2 bullets. The more sensible answer would be not to play Russian roulette at all.
