Note: this is the “Easy to read” translation off of Bible Gateway. I have a question. Jesus seems to make two separate claims. Why is this?
Matthew 7:13 “You can enter true life only through the narrow gate. The gate to hell is very wide, and there is plenty of room on the road that leads there. Many people go that way. 14 But the gate that opens the way to true life is narrow. And the road that leads there is hard to follow. Only a few people find it."
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest. 29 Accept my teaching. Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest. 30 Yes, the teaching that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is light.”
Jesus first says that it is very difficult, then he says it is very easy. Why is that?
