Addressing Muslim birth rates, Ravel quoted the contemporary French writer Renaud Camus who coined the controversial phrase ‘the great replacement’, used by anti-Islam campaigners and referring to a take-over by immigrants.

‘Muslim believers know very well that their birth rate is such that today, they call it…the Great Replacement, they tell you in a very calm, very positive way that, “one day all this, it will be ours”,’ he said. christiantoday.com/article/controversial.french.archbishop.warns.of.great.replacement.by.muslims/110709.htm

Well, most of Europe is already below replacement level with respect to total fertility rates (TFR). Without immigration, these nations would become extinct. Who do they expect will replace their populations?

I can’t think of a worse solution to Europe’s declining birthrate. I’d rather live in an empty country.

And the good archbishop is totally right in his warning, and right to be concerned. Not that it will make a difference in Western lifestyle, or appear in major Western media.

Is it the anti-Islam who are using the phrase, or muslim believers.?

Do recall, Strasbourg was once under German control. I think he has a point. THAT said, I think it would be a great point for the French clergy to preach about the Church’s teaching on contraceptives. Trust me, Catholics actually being, you know, Catholic, will reverse this trend.

The government of Poland has decided to do something about the population problem. They are paying families to have children. And it is working.

The Archbishop appears to be correct. I have mentioned this concept in other threads.

Particularly in the US, rather than being so concerned that our government pay for birth control, we should be promoting larger families. In order to do that, we would benefit from policies which make it less expensive to live here rather than more expensive so families can afford more children.

I think that’s what being truly pro-life ought to mean.

Hmm…well, I guess we can also pray for miraculous mass conversion to the Catholic faith.

Yes, this is what it will take in order to turn this inevitable problem around in most Western countries. In literally three to five generations countries can be taken over this way.

Demographics will win out in the end unless something drastic takes place!

In my American city, there has been a moderate Muslim immigration in recent years. Yes, they have purchased a few of our **many **closed Catholic churches. But why so many closed Catholic churches in what was a heavily Catholic area?

It’s secularism and it’s happening in less tham 3 to 5 generations. Catholics who are glued to the secular news media take on the secular view of life, and secular view of religion as a mere stepping stone towards equality, progress, and “spirituality”. It’s a lot less dramatic than pointing out immigrants who dress differently from us. But this is by far the greater “replacement”.
