It’s completely fair and it is based on past injustices and equally on present institutionalised oppression.
I welcome anyone to examine my past and point out where exactly I am responsible for supposed oppression of anyone.

Punishing people based upon an injustice they have not committed is wrong.

No it’s not fair. It’s just easier to spend someone else’s money.

White people are soon to be the ‘minority’ here in America. I hope everyone remembers this same spirit of giving and ‘handups’ when it comes to pushing the white man to the front of the line.

Not at all.
Just waiting for some on this board to actually back what they wish to imply so boldly.

Again I ask, are you willing to claim skin based prejudice to be right?
I like that “skin based prejudice” remark. It reminds me of “do you still beat your wife?” 😃

This thread is starting to depress me, how is this even considered a funny joke the fact that there are so many of our brothers and sisters in jail? Specially from a particular race? What does that say about our society?

I don’t want to pick on you, but I just don’t see the humor in these type of situations.

I look at some of the minority neighborhoods in the US, and they remind me of the 3rd world. I’m from central america, and I’ve been all the way to the slums of Mumbai and seen the most extreme poverty … seeing some parts of the US remind me of these places is not a cause for joy. If it happens that a community is affected by this disproportionately, we should look at all the causes, pray and do everything that is possible to fix this.
Oh stay around CAF and you do risk becomming depressed at the attitudes some folks carry regarding our brothers and sisters in Christ. I find it shocking at times.

The white man has always been at the front of the line. Does he deserve that position in perpetuity?

And now we are making it complicated.
Seems the wise man was right. We know right from wrong.
We complicate the issue when we do not want to do it.
Life is complex. It’s not all “white hats or black hats.” It’s not all, “work hard and everything will follow.”

Conservatives sometimes fail to see the subtilties in the lived experience.

Undoubtedly there are some that believe that I cannot say things without some statistical analysis behind it and know it to be true, but these are normally those that do not wish to believe the evidence in front of them.
If you say things without something to back your statements, how can you call it evidence
? :hmmm:

Oh so this is really about putting the white man in check…humbling him a little? C’mon Rich…‘affirmative action’ is sounding even more racist now.

And, he’ll get to join you, and others, in displaying phony outrage/depression to drive home partisan political superiority.

So we are to dismiss racial discrimination as a necessary “subilty”?

I am absoultely amazed how many Liberals so enthusiastically support racial discrimination and then hint that who dont are themselves racists!

Let me put it this way. Conservatives tend to be against Affirmative Action and think it racist, liberals for it and denying that it is racist. You aren’t going to change your mind about it, and neither am I, no more than you’re going to vote for Obama in '12 and I for the GOP candidate. These are simply our respective positions. We’ll both survive it. 😃

There are a disproportionate number of guilty people in prison too. If we lock up more innocent people, maybe we could improve the prison environment, on average.

First, we need some volunteers for this experiment. Any takers here?😃

How about the radical suggestion that people are judged by the content of their character and not on the color of their skin? Even saying that could cause a lot of people to hate you, or at least accuse you of “hate speech”.
In the justice system, sometimes people are judged byt the quality of their lawyers.

Often those with enough money to afford a fine lawyer will receive a lighter sentence or have their cases thrown out entirely.

Isn’t that what most conservatives believe the government does? 🙂
I don’t know, I don’t speak for or even actually KNOW any conservatives. Just being real about the situation. I’m a young single mom - you think I haven’t benefited from affirmative action type policies? I’ve barely paid a thing for the college I’ve had…

I’m thankful, of course, but I recognize truth and I know I don’t deserve anything any more than anyone else does. Given that we are, all equal that is. And yes, sometimes I had even felt guilty about it.

Call a spade a spade, it’s preferential and unfair treatment based on race or gender. And a courtesy white people will not get when they become the minority and are faced with obstacles.

I’ve had some clients, on petty offenses, get their fines and jail time suspended just because I was representing them. The ones without a lawyer got and had to pay the fines or sit in County for a while. Fair? No, but such is the way of the world.
