It been a lot of fun watching “progressives” trying to rationalize supporting racial discrimination
Have your fun. For my part, it is just laughable to watch “conservatives” trying to portray Affirmative Action as racism.

It uses race and gender as a criteria for job or school selection, so it is a form of racism and sexism.

That’s your definition, and you may certainly run with it. Many people don’t accept your view, however.

Uh, “using race and sex as criteria in hiring and admissions” is the most common legal definition of racism and sexism, e.g. in discrimination lawsuits.

And, have those discrimination lawsuits using those definitions resulted in the abolition of Affirmative Action? No, they have not. I’d suggest that we review the definition of Affirmative Action and not simply substitute for it what the right-wing would like substituted for it. I am totally for Affirmative Action. Others may support it or oppose it as they will. 🙂

If you do not get a job or accepted into school because you are white then that is racism.

All right! The fun has begun again. It is so much fun to see how the left twists their support of racism

Lots of fun too watch the right trying to act as though theirs is the only POV that everyone needs accept.

Wrong from one point of view or wrong from another point of view? Depends on which POV you accept to start with.
I thought the point of view we started with was it was wrong to discriminate based on the color of ones skin?

Affirmative Action is not wholly based on skin color. But, I need not post an explanation why. The lines between both positions have been very clearly drawn and I don’t anticipate anyone having a Road to Damascus change of mind. That’s not to say that either side may not hold what it holds. It’s only to say that I don’t buy into right-wing definitions of Affirmative Action. We may believe what we will.

I have found that if your POV is conformed to the actual facts one does not need concern themselves so much with defense of their position.

Affirmative action uses race as well as sex in the decision making process…therefore it is both racist and sexist.

If one wishes to reform affirmative action to not include this type of discrimination, I will take another look. But thus far it does not seem probable.

As I said, the lines have been drawn, and I expect no Road to Damascus changes of heart by either side.

I believe you would be surprised by the number of moments on this forum where the scales fall from someone’s eyes.

I expect it.

I have been there. I can recall a few threads that were fought over several bloody pages and eventually scales fell from my own eyes.

There is a point in every life where reality cannot be denied.
Perhaps I have too much faith in my fellow man.
