As a liberal, I’m not against this at all. Any time a bunch of conservatives want to get together and demonstrate that they don’t understand public policies, I’m a happy guy.
What is it they don’t understand.? Do you believe that people should be given preference in college admissions because of the color of their skin?

Or their genitalia…

Which brings to mind Chaz Bono. I guess if it is advantageous to apply as a woman, then she’s a woman because genetically, she is…unless its more advantageous to be a white man because she convinced a surgeon to mutilate her body to make it look like she is one.

Yes, to some extent. “A hand up, not a handout.” What is it about that which is so hard for so many on the right wing to understand? 🤷

Obviously this is a nefarious attempt to further compound the obesity problem for minorities and reduce their lifespans. It is immoral for the Young Republicans to profit from this. At the very least we need a sales tax surcharge on all reduced price cupcakes sold to minorities to fund a public service advertising campaign to make obese people feel better about themselves.

PS. Maybe an exception could be made if the cupcakes were carrot cake made with gluten free, organically grown, free trade whole wheat flour from a wiccan lesbian commune in Wyoming.

Where is the justice is snubbing a qualified person because of his skin color in favor of a less or unqualified person because of the color of her skin color?

To make up for past injustices to the people of a race denied opportunities because of their color. That’s precisely how I see it. You don’t? Fine.

So it is acceptable to commit injustice now to compensate for past injustice against people who were in no way involved in the past injustice? That is like black people blaming me for slavery and demanding reparations from me because I am white when my family lived in Canada until 75 years ago and weren’t involved in slavery whatsoever.

What about the whole notion that two wrongs don’t make a right? You cannot commit an injustice to compensate for injustice.

I don’t see the point in repaying an individual an injustice they never suffered.

I’m certain that the notion of leveling the playing field was NOT directed at you and your family directly.

So we can expect a lawsuit for this injustice?

It still affects me because of my skin color. That’s why I married a Puerto Rican woman. My kids, who look white, sound white, act white, and don’t know a lick of Spanish (yet) can still claim Hispanic on enrollment forms and get EEO protections when they get older.

You read it the way you want to, just as I read it the way I want. I would hope that you support whomever you believe will bring about the situation you desire. I am equally committed to supported those who support my point of view. 🙂

That would make a lot of sense if the reparations went to the actual person denied his rights and the judgement was paid by the actual person who denied the right.

That is very different from government taking from all people of one race to support all people of another race. When some Europeans were oppressing some Africans in the slave trade, at least some of my ancestors were being oppressed in Ireland for wanting to attend Mass. None of them ever owned a slave–they were the functional equivalent of slaves themselves. Where is my handout?

Surely you aren’t complaining about that!

You are taking the word “handout” too literally. This isn’t tied to a claim for monetary reparations.
