Not will you leave the church that has not yet been formed.

Jesus also said the the Holy Spirit will be with all who believe and that he will not lead us astray.

Try looking at the actual context. The ability to forgive sins was given exclusively to the eleven, and their successors by way of Apostolic Succession…and yes the office of Apostle was an office that needed to be filled.

The word He used was “anamnesis” which is the same word as for the Passover - a making present of a past event that manifests an eternal reality - a Jew cannot consider himself Jewish without partaking of the Passover - he himself must eat of the meat of the lamb, in order to be released from the bondage of Egypt.

Jesus is making a plain statement that has nothing to do with the future Church or with future teachings of the Apostles. A group of men had left Jesus already, at that moment, and Jesus was saying, “Choose now whom you will follow - them, or Me?”

Read and understand the plain words of Jesus, without adding to them, or subtracting from them.

The Greek word for “passover” is pascha the Greek speaking Jews used that word of passover.
On the Christian side pascha has 2 meanings 1) passover
2) the sacrifice of Christ.

Anamnesis-recollection, rememberance
Ancient Greek-recallection, reminiscence, lifferally loss of forgetfullness.
Anamnesis a term used in medicine, philosophy, phychoanalysis, and religion. First used by the Greek philosopher “Plato” to equate kearning with remembering.
In Christianity Anamnesis is reference to the Eucharist.
“Do this in memory of me” can refer either to the memorial character of the Eucharist itself or to the part of service where the passion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus are remembered.
Epiclesis-Ancient Greek-inovcation or calling down from on high is that part of the Anaphora (Euchsristic prayer) by which the Priest invokes the Holy Spirit or the power of his blessing, upon the Eucharstic bread and wine.

The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, so one must believe inorder to have the Holy Spirit.

How do you see that Christ is substantially present in the Eucharist from the words I gave you and the meaning of the words.

right, I wasn’t talking about the word for Passover, but rather, the “remembering” of Passover is not the same kind of remembering as we do when we recall an event of the past, nor even a re-enactment of a past event, but rather, the “making present” of that event, so that we ourselves can actively participate in it. “Anamnesis” is this kind of “remembering” rather than the kind where past events remain in the past.

The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, but not equally in each one. The Holy Spirit’s actions through a priest are different than His actions through me. It is the same Holy Spirit, doing different (but not self-contradictory) things with different people.

Can you show me where the word Anamnesis means “making present?” I did not see that in the definitions I supplied.

Ya I saw that after I posted my last post. As far as the Good Catholic Conversion story goes sorry but I don’t. But I have a Baptist conversion story, but that would be off topic also.

All I know is that any who had the fullness of truth (Catholic) and then rejects it will have much more to answer for than one who never had said truth. To whom much is given, much will be required.
