Wow.

Catholic men are pansies?

There is nothing more manly than a man who is obedient to Holy Mother Church, who models what St. Paul spoke of in loving his wife more than his own body.

Prayers that God will show you the beauty of HIS way.
HE has and it is NOT the catholic church!!!šŸ˜‰

What is you still disagree after ā€œinvestigationā€? Is that a possibility???
I assume you meant ā€œwhat ifā€, but it is of course a possibility. It just didn’t happen with me so you throwing out that we’re not considering the possibility that the Vatican is wrong is poppycock. I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing after careful consideration, what I do have a problem with is people not investigating what the church is actually saying and then just saying they disagree. Oh, and then to top it all off they say that we who have investigated and read and prayed and thought and happen to agree - they say we are the closed minded ones 🤷

One can choose to give satan a foothold, or choose to allow God to pour out his grace.

I love my husband, and I have committed to him for life. He feels the same way, sickness and health, abstainence or not.

Just to show u how ignorant and hypocritical you are. My wife is the person (and she is a WONDERUL person) who clued me in. She brought me to my senses. If my previous marriage is not anulled (and I would have to go into it prepared for the worst). My lovely wife and I would have to live as brother-sister. This is a bad example for my 13 year-old (and she would be perceptive enough to notice the lack of intimacy).
No… it could be a very loving and valuable lesson for your daughter about the importance of being faithful to God even when it is hard.
Both of us view confugal love as a protection of for ourselves from temptation. This would in her opinion (mine too) would give satan a foothold in out marriage. Whether you understand this or not is irrelevant! Interestingly, the Orthodox churchs have a much more practical view of this.
That is sad if that is your only view of marriage ans sex as being a way to avoid temptation…
So…you keep blindly following what ā€œTHE CHURCHā€ says, it seems impractical and unreasonable to me and MOST OTHER CHRISTIANS IN THE WORLD. I heard lemmings are among the happiest animals šŸ˜› .
Did you ever believe that someone elses way is better than your way? God’s way is ALWAYS better.
As regards my wife’s health, she has been hospitalized for months on end and almost died, due to one pregnancy. IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT ME NOT HAVING SEX, stupid buffoon!!!
btdt… just because of one crisis pregnancy does not mean all subsequent pregnancies would be the same. I was in the hospital for over 4 months with one pregnancy and the next pregnancy went wonderfully… I know that isn’t always the case, but trusting in God played a key role in my health. My doctors were ready to put me in the hospital again but I told them I trusted in God that I would be fine… and my precious daughter was born one day before her due date and was absolutely perfect. So you see… I have been through extended periods of abstinence… was it fun? Nope… but it wasn’t catastrophic either. Actually I went over a year at one point (while married) and after I was divorced, I went 8 yrs and guess what? I survived… WOW!

But wait kage… then he might have to have a conversation with her… I don’t think that is what he is interested in… I seriously think he just can’t get beyond being told that he needs to be abstinent until his marriage is decreed valid or not… and that scares him… OMGosh how can one live without sex??? At this point it isn’t about God’s will or what is good for him and his marriage… it is about comfort and his fear of not having sex.

Try 4 trouble pregnancies!!! Also, I guess you will volunteer to pay our medical bills. And, since you mentioned it, have you considered that considered that someone else’s way is better? I have tried another view, the CC. What makes you so sure that CC’s way IS God’s way? Perhaps it is not and it just works for you. Have you ever considered that? Probably not!

Your mind is made up. I will try not confuse you with the facts. 🤷

What makes you so sure that CC’s way IS God’s way?
I can tell you what makes ME so sure.

Jesus said ā€œYou are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.ā€

And you do realize that not all Christians interpret that verse the same way, right???

Interestingly, the Orthodox churchs have a much more practical view of this.
Like you, I found myself faced with annulment when I was considering converting to Catholicism. I’ve been married once but my husband was married before, 17 years ago for less than a year. My husband and I have been married over 14 years.

Much of the ā€œprocessā€ regarding annulment and what would happen while seeking annulment made no sense to me. I eventually decided that Orthodoxy was the path for me.

Are you considering Orthodoxy as an option for you and your family?

It is my understanding that the only impediment in being received by the Orthodox church is a lack of repentance for sins and, of course, not believing in what the Orthodox Church teaches.

Another analogy is that the Orthodox Church is a spiritual hospital. The sickness is sin.

I have also been told that the teaching of the Orthodox Church is that when a person is baptized or chrismated (however it is for the individual) that person becomes a truly new person. Our past is wiped out, as if it never happened. The focus is on where we are going, not where we have been.

I should mention that we met with the RCIA director. She was less than enthusiastic and told us we would need to wait until the next RCIA cycle (September I think). The whole thing was a discouraging experience. 😦
I went through a similar issue when I was Catholic.

The rules on marriage and divorce is one area where the Roman Catholic Church is in error. That’s why it’s so complicated and nothing makes any sense. You have a bunch of celibate men trying to make rules about marriage.

So, the Bible gives two conditions for divorce and remarriage. 1. Adultery. 2. Unbelief in Christ.

Matthew 5:32

[32] But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

1 Corinthians 7: 14-15

[14] For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy.
[15] But if the unbelieving partner desires to separate, let it be so; in such a case the brother or sister is not bound. For God has called us to peace.

The Church should just take your word for it. You know your situation better than they do.

I hope you enjoy your time in the Orthodox Church. .

I have considered the Orthodox church. It is actually quite a coincidence, as I was just looking up a Greek Orthodox Church in my area.
My main hinderance with Orthodoxy is that it seems soooo ethnocentric. Neither my wife or I are Greek, Coptic, Russian, Romanian, etc and would like to have a little in common with my potential co-religionists.

With all due respect, the protestant route is out!!! We were Lutherans and that left me scared.
I main problem is the idea of justification being Forensic. That is, you are saved at a point in time. I believe that the Bible teachs justification as a process. I recall as a protestant that the implicit message was that we were already saved so works were unnecessary and, then, pastors would rail about people not coming to church. Basically, after the said they did not have to 🤷
Also, there is the issue of Sola Scriptura. After some study in textual criticism, this theory seems quite untenable.
