Converting a Muslim?

I have a “kind of” friend who works with me. She is a born muslim and she does not practice. She talks about and prays a lot to God. I ask her questions about Islam and she does not know. She is also fascinated by the church. My question is how can I go about talking to her about converting or maybe attend church with me? Should I?
Has anyone talked to a Muslim about the Catholic faith?

While I can’t give any advice from personal experience, search for common ground. They do believe that Mary was/is the Mother of Jesus, although not that Jesus is God. To them He was just a great prophet, but not as great as Mohammed.

Since she isn’t too deep into Islam, you might be able to point out to her that a lot of their beliefs were borrowed from Judaism and Christianity, but not faithfully. They were twisted.

Maybe you could offer to pray with her in a general way and talk about Truth as revealed to us through the Bible. Catholicism is logical, Islam is not (as far as I can see from what I’ve read and heard via books and tv programs on EWTN).

On chnetwork.org you can find the show about Daniel Ali, a convert from Islam. Ask if you and she could view it together, maybe invite her to tea. Guess you’d have to gauge things to fit the situation.

Best if you worked on the friendship end of things first, and in the meantime, pray, of course!

Oh yes; of course, only the Holy Spirit can actually ‘convert’ someone! (thinking about your thread’s Title).

Let your love of her as a “neighbor” reveal the love of Christ to her. Your patient and caring example will speak to her heart. Let her know that the human heart is always seeking, as your was when God revealed Christ fully to you.

What is your ethnic background? and does she attend Jummah. You might want to explain to her that notwithstanding women being prohibited from joining the priesthood. At some churches women will read part of the liturgy and quote from the bible to the congregation. Which is more participation than you would get at a typical Mosque.
