hello my religion is anglican i was born an anglican.i never felt at home there. i want to covert to roman catholic. i spend more time at the church than i ever spent at my own. i feel at home there. and believe that god is showing me the way . can you help
I’m kindof in your very same shoes aswell. The Church I went to, one called Calvary Chapel, had this Protestant-outlook on certain Bible scripture, the Pastor would often say things like,“No this verse in the Bible isn’t right.” or he would often avoid certain Bible verses or scriptures and, since I’m well-known around most of my compatriots as a passionate scholar, I actually asked the questions.
“Why would they ignore these things? Why were they allowed? Who authorized this nonsense?”
It turns out that Calvary Chapel was a Protestant-Methodist Denomination created by a group of hippies in the most antichristian state in the world, California. I was quite disturbed by the fact that it was founded by hippies; looking over information on hippies, you’ll find on this article:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie
You’ll see that, as the article says,
“The early hippie ideology included the countercultural values of the Beat Generation. Some created their own social groups and communities, listened to psychedelic rock, embraced the sexual revolution, and used drugs such as marijuana and LSD to explore alternative states of consciousness.”
This was just one of the faults I found in the Denomination.
Another fault was the whole “business” attitude they had to it. I’ve always felt that Church-related things should be for free. And if not, then at least let the poor have it for free and let the rich pay for it. Or something along those lines, those are ideas in progress, as I call them. I just prefer not seeing ads from Coca Cola at my church, or anything like “Jesus on ice!” shows.
It took me a while to realize that I was growing a love for the Catholic Church, and in the most quiet way.
You look up on the Anglicans and you’ll realize many surprising things. The Anglicans are controlled by the British Parliament. That’s not really a church, is it? What kind of Catholic Priest would say they want Sharia law installed?
Look up Rowan Williams, the Anglican Bishop.
