Its all in how the passages are UNDERSTOOD. To militant Muslims, jihad means an actual, physical war against infidels.
please just buy a copy of quran.i will show you all verse numbers.you have brain and hope you will understand the reality.i will also show u the verses from quran about jewish people.do you know what quran specially taught about jewish?do u know just for the verses of quran, muslim hate jewish?

This will be my last post on this forum.
To the OP.
I have been looking back into Islam.
I dont feel at home in a catholic church. I feel it looks good; but it just doesnt feel right. The church is not as perfect as everyone makes it out to be. The church is just as “dirty” as Islam ;Neither have a clean past. So dont get that impression from these people .

.I feel more of a gnostic; but I lean more toward Islam.
I just wanted to tell the OP to dont get your news from one source.

OP; you can PM me but I wont post anymore.

Over and out.
here now gone.

Muhammad’s marriages or the violence in Islam are secondary right now . Tahira wants to know if she can be Catholic and Muslim at the same time. Maybe she does not know Islam and just likes how Muslims pray or fast for example and decided to adopt them as a Catholic.

Tahira, the answer is no for one major reason : Jesus.

Muslims deny everyrthing that has to do with Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. You cannot be a Catholic and reject the core teachings of the Bible and Church. You are either Catholic (Christian) or Muslim. You either believe what Jesus says or what Muhammad says…

Let us know if our answers are helpful.

The ,“All the gods of the Gentiles are devils” refering to "modern day gentiles (Christians) ???

The number of idiots is infinite. There is another bibilical reference for you.

Anyhow, since you like to apply Scripture as you please,

How do you justify Jews being unorthodox? I mean who gave you guys permission to eat pigs (yummy!!!) walk 200 and 1 steps on Saturdays and not bang your head on the wall when you pass by a beautiful woman?

Moishe would disapprove.

** Please leave these bad remarks about Muhammad now that he married a young girl. He was the most sensible, honest and successful man who taught new laws to the mankind. Do you think he was ignorant.

These things about the girl’s age six and nine have been taken from the Hadith, so they are not reliable at all. See the Quran. If there is nothing there then forget those bad things. If you use thos ethings too much it will show you as a bad man. i.e. looking for faults in others.

Did Jesus tell you to judge any one. Muhammad was a perfect man of God like Jesus. If Tahirah accepts Islam, there is no harm. She will have Jesus with her all the time even mor ethan before and the mother of Jesus also and the grand mother of Jesus too (all well described in the Quran). I suppose the bible NT does not describe the good work of the mother of Mary.

Let Tahirah remain Catholic and be a good Catholic. We Muslims have no objection. The problem about prayer: She has decided to become a Muslimah. Then she is worried about her prayers. She can always pray five times a day and at the same time continue her previous practice of prayers to God Almighty.

Tahira, please remember that If you become a Jew, you lose Jesus and Muhammad. If you remain a christian you losa Muhammad. If you become a Muslimah then you have every one with you in a respectable status without any blemish.

Before becoming a Muslimah, please make sure that you are ready to believe:
  1. In One God without parts or partners.
  2. That Muhammad is mortal man, servant and messenger of Allah.
  3. Believe in all the angels of Allah.
  4. Believe in all the books of Allah.
  5. Believe in all the messengers of Allah.
  6. Believe in destiny that all is from Allah.
These are only the beliefs. After these, there are obligations of praying 5 times a day, Paying a poor tax of your unused, unspent wealth @ 2.5 %. Fasting during the month of Ramadhan i.e. 9th month of Muslim calendar. And visit to Makkah for Hajj once in lifetime for pilgrimage.

It is better to remain Catholic until you are sure of what you are doing. So that you do not have to shuttle back to previous belief.

If you are a Muslimah then you are a Jew as wel as a christian and Muslim too. You have all the faiths because Muhammad was told by Allah to follow in the footsteps of all the previous prophets, and he did. wassalam.**
No, he didn’t. He denied the Resurrection of Christ, and the New Testament makes quite clear, such a denial renders Christianity futile (I Cornithians 15:14). Why stop at Muhammad? You can become a Bahai and have Muhammad, Baha’ullah and Zoroaster, etc… to boot.

The Church condemns divorce and polygamy. So much for “perfect man.”

Your numbered list is vague: all books of God? The New Testament is contradicted by the Quran on its central theme, the messiahship (i.e. Savior, and author and finisher of our Faith), divinity and Death and Resurrection of Christ.

Question: the Jews have not accepted Christ, but they are still awaiting a messiah. The Muslims claim that Muhammad is the prophet proclaimed by Christ. How come we’re not waiting for anyone, since we do reject Muhammad?

I have a copy of the Quran; I have copies of almost every holy book of every major (and even some minor) religions. Its a hobby of mine to study other religions.

Did they succeed in killing Rushdie? And why not? I’m sure if he lived in an orthodox Muslim country, he’d have already been killed.
Yes, I’m sure, because where he was he was afforded protection by the government. I’ve know others not so fortunate, and were killed here in the good ol’ U.S. of A.

Your reply made no sense to me at all. As for “eating pigs”, I keep strictly kosher so that’s doesn’t apply here. And “beautiful women” means nothing since I’m female and not a lesbian.

Hmm…that’s from the Jewish Bible. MY Bible. .
Actually, not exactly.

The OP specified the Vulgate, which uses the Septuagint for the Psalms (Jerome’s translation was rejected for that book), which was translated by the Hebrews into Greek before Christ, used by the Hebrews but then rejected by the Jews with the rise of the Church. Your Jewish Bible, i.e. the Masoretic text, was not set down until almost a thousand years later.

When I said “MY” Bible, I meant it was from what Christians call “the Old Testament”.

Incidentally, the Vulgate evidently replaces the word “idols” with “devils” for some reason…the original text said, “idols” (in Judaism we do not believe in a devil or devils, which was what gave it away to me immediately, and then I looked it up.)

Where do you get “original text?” because the Masoretic text is further removed than the Septuagint for it (as Psalm 9/9-10 shows: an acrostic, the rhythm in Hebrew shows it is one psalm, which the Masoretic text has split).

That Judaism has given up the belief of devil(s) (btw, we don’t believe IN the devil either, we leave that to the Satanists) changes nothing, including the original text.

The word in Hebrew in the Masoretic text literally means “good for nothing, vanity.” Evil is always good for nothing.

When I said “original” I meant the original Hebrew of the Masoretic text (Jewish Bibles have English on one side and Hebrew on the other.) The LXX (Septuagint) was written in Greek, not Hebrew.

And FTR Judaism has never believed in “devils” as Christianity does. We do believe in a satan (Hebrew word for adversary), but he has no power apart from what God allows him to have (see the Book of Job for a good example of how authentic Judaism sees him.)

The Masoretic Text is NOT the original Hebrew, as the varients in the Dead Sea Scrolls and other fragments have shown. And the Masoretic Text of Psalms 9 and 10 themselves show the priority of the LXX translation.
And FTR Judaism has never believed in “devils” as Christianity does.
If you mean by Judaism the religion built on the Talmud in the centuries after Christ, I won’t dispute that. The earlier religious literature of the Hebrews (including, btw, the New Testament) shows otherwise.

And this differs from Orthodox Christianity how? We’re not dualists.

The NT is not Jewish literature, it is Christian. I know of no Jewish congregation that consults the NT for anything.

And Judaism has always been an evolving religion, we do not stay static. What earlier Jews believed and did is important, but so is what later Jews believe and do.

We don’t stay the same, we change. Most of the Christian churches do the same thing, which is how the Catholic church was able to change after V2.

I am very disappointed in the replies left regarding Islam. Why is everyone anti-Islam here? That proves no one has any respect for other religions which is not Christian like. Islam is a very peaceful religion, which most of you won’t accept. I’ve been reading articles on new muslims who have just converted from their old religion. They all feel a sense of peace in their souls. If someone chooses to explore different religions, they should be able to do so without being criticized or criticizing that particular religion. Why don’t all you Islam haters read up on Islam & quit being ignorant! If you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say it!!
Because Islam is

(1) incompatible with practicing christian faith
(2) the reason for the most hideous oppressions since the NAZI’s
(3) a religious which spawns terrorists by the very nature of its scripture (They are not the mainstream, but they are not terribly divergent from it, either)
(4) a religion which specifically states in its holy scriptures that religious law is to be imposed upon all, especially the non-believers
(5) a religion which leads most of its followers to consider those not practicing islam less than worthy of civil rights
(6) a religion which teaches many horrid behaviors.

This site is not “Islam Answers” but Catholic Answers,

To be Muslim is to reject the Trinity, Christ’s divinity, Christ’s Death and Ressurection, and to accept Gnosticism. In short, to be Muslim is to be a Heretic.

Historically, Islam arises in an area noted for Gnosticism, and shares the Gnostic view of Christ and Christ’s purpose. A view which has been anathematized by several councils, and a view which is specifically at odds with Catholicism.

That would only happen in a Muslim country.
Not true; If a Muslim kills another Muslim for leaving Islam in a Muslim Country he is rewarded, if the act is done outside of a Muslim Country he will suffer the laws of the land for murder, most times the Muslim will leave the country back to a Muslim country. Or take the apostate back to a Muslim country and have him executed, either by force or deception. I recall a Muslim father killing his two daughters for wanting to Marry outside of Islam her in the U.S. as one recent example.

I dont think the perception is anti-Islam, the sentiments are from the fruits in the name of Islam, you know, 911 was done in the name of Islam, car bombings done in the name of Islam etc… Can you display a Peaceful fruit of Islam towards those who are not Islam? I am sure Islam is a peaceful religion among Muslims, but how is that same peace shared with others outside of Islam?

Christianity teaches us to love our enemies; Do you know what Islam teaches about it’s enemies?

The NT is not Jewish literature, it is Christian. I know of no Jewish congregation that consults the NT for anything.
Messianic congregations do. And before you say “they’re not Jewish,” it always amazes me that one can be reformed, reconstructionist, atheist, secular, taoism, etc and still be considered a Jew: anything but accepting Christ as the Messiah.

And note, I didn’t say “Jewish,” I said Hebrew, although much of the New Testament was written by a Pharisee, St. Paul.
And Judaism has always been an evolving religion, we do not stay static. What earlier Jews believed and did is important, but so is what later Jews believe and do.
To answer the question whether Hebrew religion, the religion of the Old Testament, held to the existence of demons is a question which is outside the authority of later Judaism.
We don’t stay the same, we change. Most of the Christian churches do the same thing, which is how the Catholic church was able to change after V2.
Of course we hold that Judaism changed after the rise of the Church, which is why St. Augustine said “We follow the Tradition of the Apostles and not the traditions of the Pharisees, Sadduccees and Scribes.” And why we give (or shouldn’t give) priority to the Talmud’s interpretation of the OT (much of which postdates the rise of the Church, the references in the Talmud to the “Deuterocanonicals,” rejected later by Judaism by kept by the Church, a case in point).
