I don’t trust Rahm Emmanuel and Chicago
has ties to Obama who is friends with
Rahm.
I can imagine the detectives who worked
long and hard on this case are not happy
campers.

According to the superintendent of the police hundreds of hours were spent reviewing video taken from the surrounding area. Something like 18 detectives were pulled off of other assignments to work this case.

Some years ago, a lawyer friend of mine was hired by a man who moved here from Chicago. My friend explained his fee structure to the client, whereupon the client asked “…how much for the judge?”

My friend assured the client that there was no need to bribe the judge and, besides, it was against the law to even attempt it.

“Well, that’s how it’s done in Chicago” the client said. My friend didn’t believe him.

About a year later, several judges in Chicago were arrested by the feds for taking bribes.

I believe it. One only needs to go to traffic court there to see most if not all charges dropped without argument. Only requirement is to show up.

I’m no Rahm Emanuel fan, but he complained maybe two years ago that the courts in Chicago wouldn’t significantly punish guilty gun offenders. And he was right. From a law and order standpoint, I think his tenure has been disappointing to him. You would think the mayor could change things, but apparently it’s not so.

Likely Emanuel’s successor will have no more success than he did in cleaning up law enforcement in Chicago. Too bad.

I have no idea what happened in this case but then again, I don’t think anyone here does. Why the belief that somehow this is a miscarriage of justice?
Well, even the Mayor is calling it that.

This is not how plea deals are done, so I read. There were much better ways for the prosecution to save the cost of a court case.

Yes, this is the only parallel we can logically draw. I think too that, in both cases, we will never know the truth of the matter. Personally, however, I tend to think that both Smollett and Trump are guilty of crimes. Lock 'em up, preferably in the same cell. Throw in Hillary as well.

I’ve heard related stories from people doing govt construction work in Chicago. You play the kick-back game or go to another playground.

The records are sealed. We don’t know what information came to light that led to the prosecutors decision. We are in the smae situation with Barr and Trump.
Smollett wasn’t exonerated, ignore what he said in his news conference. Prosecutors are on record confirming he wasn’t exonerated.
Prosecutors dropped all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, despite acknowledging that Smollett fabricated a street attack on himself, in order to focus resources on violent crimes, Cook County first assistant state attorney Joe Magats said in an interview Tuesday with ABC Chicago station WLS.

Replace Smollett with Trump. It is still a true statement.
Not really,
The Smollett prosecutors said they wanted to do other things, not that they didn’t have evidence of a crime. Everyone agrees there is plenty of evidence Smollett committed crimes.
