Hey, does anyone know what to do with leftover stuffing? Almost all the other leftovers are gone. (I cooked a small meal to start with, lol.) But I still have this clump of stuffing left. And I’m figuring that my parents are sick of plain stuffing by now, so what could I put it in?

(Personally, I’m allergic to wheat, so none for me, lol.) 😛

Yum!! I put parmesan on practically everything! (Which explains why I buy so much every time I go grocery shopping, lol) I like to put it on mushrooms!!
I can see that working (maybe with sauteed mushrooms on pasta or something)

My favourite way of employing parmesan cheese (and too much is never enough for me!) is in a pesto sauce - made with arugula (aka rocket) instead of basil. Yumm-oh. 👍

Arugula’s especially good in a salmon salad w/ black beans, avocado, corn, black olives, mild white cheese and an olive oil / key lime dressing w/ lots of garlic and basil. Num. Yummy.

Making baked potatoes tonight for dinner. Ever look through your cabinets, frig…etc…and there really is NOTHING to eat? I don’t know how this happened. My dh’s car needs to go to the shop, so he took the other car to work–so we’re stuck with what is left to eat here. 😊

The good news is that there are plenty of toppings for the potatoes…and dd loves oodles of noodles. I guess I could have defrosted something this morning…

Baked potatoes…they only take like what, 45 minutes? They’ve been baking now for about 30 minutes.

I usually leave them in for about an hour, but I’m at a fairly high altitude.

I just went on a website for ‘perfect baked potatoes…’ and apparently, I should not have wrapped them in alum foil…so, I unwrapped them just now, and will bake them for another 15 minutes. Now, I know why I go to Wendy’s for ‘perfect’ baked potatoes. 😛 My dh’s baked potatoes are so good…crispy skin, soft inside…hmmmm…fingers crossed that mine will be good.

Happy to ‘report’ that my baked potatoes were really something tonight–restaurant quality. This is a first for me. Most of the time, my baked potatoes are too soft…or the skin is just blah. These were great. I unwrapped the foil after baking them for nearly 40 minutes wrapped up…and poured a little olive oil over them with salt and pepper…and baked them for an additional 10-15 minutes.

Lite sour cream & a small amount of cheddar cheese…yummy.

Guess not all experiements turn out badly. 😉 :o

A friend and myself once set out to make fettucini alfredo, and it did NOT turn out well! :rotfl:

We had gotten the recipe from an internet message board, and misunderstood what we were told about the amount of flour to put in the sauce.

Soon, we ended up with a strange cottage-cheese-type dough concoction, and for some reason decided to put the pasta in anyway.

Anyway, I don’t think we even tried it because it was just such an epic fail. We took the pot outside to the back yard, dug a hole, and dumped its contents inside. We buried the fettucini and vowed never to speak of it again.

So that’s my cooking experiment gone bad story 🙂

I prefer carbonara (that’s the one with egg) - no flour involved, although you have to keep a carbonara on VERY gentle heat if you don’t use cream or something otherwise you end up with cheesy scrambled egg.

I once tried to make homemade chocolate ravioli, with a marscapone centre… it was totally revolting & also way too heavy since the first course was also homemade pasta with bacon or something… I was about 13 & this was one of my first forays in the kitchen so my poor parents had to pretend to love it! They still joke now about how vile it was! :o

When I was in 10th grade we had to do a demonstration speech. Most of us chose a food item because well… we were all teen agers and we liked to eat. I decided to make onion rings. First I had to get special permission because I make a beer batter and well you know how stupid people get about alcohol even when it will all be cooked off… Anyway, in the end I was allowed to bring in the batter already made but not the ingredients… which was fine with me.

So, the night before I was doing my speech, I was practicing it at home and I heated up the oil… and it just wasn’t “acting” right. It took forever and it didn’t spit and spatter when I splashed a drop of water in it… I asked my dad why. He asked what kind of oil I was using. I told him it was the stuff in the fridge. He went to the fridge and opened it, picked up a jar and said, “Is this the jar?” I looked and said yeah… he blew a gasket… apparently I just ruined a quart of simple syrup… heated it up so high it hit hard crack stage and became hard sugar candy… he was sooo mad at me!

So it took me hours to clean it out of the fryer… and the next day at school while heating up the real oil, the fryer gave out and refused to heat up… and I thought this recipe was a sure A!!!

Oh goodness, I just had another recipe go weird on me.

I’ve been trying to make a good chicken noodle soup. (I can’t find a single pre-packaged chicken soup that’s gluten-free.) So I decided to try rice noodles this time.

The soup was coming along perfectly…and I added the noodles…and 2 minutes later I look and see that I must have added too many, or something, because the stupid noodles ABSORBED ALL MY SOUP!!!

:crying:

(Aside from that little mishap…it tasted all right, lol.)

Maybe try cooking the noodles before adding them so they don’t absorb so much liquid? That way you should avoid noodle pudding.

I actually like noodle pudding - I fry it in the frying pan, with lots of butter and tomato sauce - yummy! 🙂

(Yes, I was a latch-key child.)

I remember one time my mom cooked this very delicious roast beef in a crock pot. Then she left the stirring in the hands of my brother Paul. When he finished stirring it it was like a brown mush, and the forks couldn’t grab even a single strand. It was hard to eat to say the least.

I’m happy to report all of my cooking experiments went really well this year!:yeah_me: I grilled on an indoor grill, shrimp marinated in butter, balsamic vinegar, and spices…and then for the dipping sauce…(ala Giada’s cooking show) used greek yogurt, pancake syrup (yup you read right:D ), horseradish, hot mustard, and spices…YUM!!! Even my picky hubby loved it. Even my picky kids loved it.

It was a hit! Then the indoor grill stopped working. Taking that back, but that’s another story–Christmas presents that have gone bad. 😛

I also made veggie lasagna…and my sister, who is a FAAAARRRR better cook than I’ll EVER be, praised me to no end on the marvelous cooking job I did for Christmas. This is what I did…:curtsey: LOL I have to hand it to chefs out there–I was cooking ALL day, and being on one’s feet cooking like that, is tiring!!! :coolinoff:
