Cool op-ed piece from a "neo-feminist"

It is a cool piece, and I definitely appreciate someone outside the “Christian world” who propounds such a view. However, she seems also to have a “boys will be boys” mentality, in that she thinks it’s normal for men to try to have sex with anything that moves. I’d like to see some more “neo-masculinists” out there, pushing men to believe that they’re worth more than one-night stands.

The article does not say she is outside the Christian world–just that she is “not an ultraconservative.” I believe that is clearly open to interpretation and could easily mean she is Catholic. It is cool, no matter what, that she’s willing to write it.

However, she seems also to have a “boys will be boys” mentality, in that she thinks it’s normal for men to try to have sex with anything that moves.

**I didn’t see this at all, either. She clearly pulls from all-too-common real life scenarios (“Handsome Man at a Bar, you think I’m cute? Thanks. Do you appreciate *me ***or the idea of having sex with me?”) Any single 32-year-old cutie at a bar is going to be hit on by a guy hoping to “get lucky” that night. She is pretty clear that she will not tolerate these excuses floating around excusing away pre-marital sex and will wait for her husband. She places the blame on men, women, and society as a whole. She doesn’t make it seem like she is choosing from a minority of men, either.

I’d like to see some more “neo-masculinists” out there, pushing men to believe that they’re worth more than one-night stands.

Here, here!
