Shoshona commented on the negative thread about the United States that people here seem down on Canada. Well, I for one love Canada! Actually, I’m a little jealous that they have such a cool country. I really wouldn’t mind being Canadian.

Oh how sweet WhiteDove…you are making me blush smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_13_12v.gif !

Cool things about Canada:

Right now, most of Canada is quite COOL! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_3_1.gif

1)Awesome scenery. Endless forests. Incredible mountains.

Miles and miles of it. All over the country… smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_21_8.gif

2)Prettier money. Multicolored like the rest of the world!

Isn’t your money changing also? I thought my future american brother-in-law showed me some… smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_102.gif …I am just happy I still have some…even if it is just coins… smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_8_10.gif
  1. Cool accent. They talk so clearly.
I still like the ‘Y’all come back now ya hear???’👍
  1. People generally better mannered and more civil.
All I know that when I went to Israel the second time our Jewish guide told us not to be so Canadian as we would let anyone and everyone go ahead of us!
  1. Lots of Indian restaurants!
Never been to one myself. The closest reserve we have is about 2 hours from here…
  1. Whistler
  2. I love the North! Crisp climate! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_3_9v.gif
  3. Farley Mowat
  4. Less crowded.
Well, this is true but you do pay a price for that. Like higher taxes, etc. And belirve it or not, most people I know would hate to live in Toronto! And what is Toronto compared to New York or Chicago?
  1. They don’t have to be a superpower and throw their weight around but glean all the benefits.
We aren’t as stupid as we look, eh? 😉
  1. Lots of Eskimos. The Inuit are the coolest people. Read Farley Mowat for more details…
I love Farley Mowat. I read about the Guerrillas in the Mist…
  1. They call public restrooms washrooms. Sure sounds nice and better than what they call them in UK!
I was always confused with that term…who rests in a washroom??? Although there are washrooms with a beautiful lounging room. We also have washrooms for families (rocking chair for nursing mother, etc.)

Well, thank you WhiteDove! I feel so welcomed by y’all!

I think socialized medicine is a good thing. No system is perfect, but the American system is grossly unfair and inefficient.

Dave Foley :yup:

did someone mention Canadian Bacon? mmmmm.

Mounted Police!

I like that, yep. The Mounties old uniforms are SEXY! woohoo! The men look so, so, you know in them.

Eamon
Oh my!!! It was awesome. I went to Victoria with my two sisters for a “Sisters Holiday” We got a jr suite, it overlooked the harbor and we had beautiful weather the 5 days we were there. We hike to Craigdarrick(sp) castle.

Nanaimo Bars!

Chocolate, Sugar, and Butter, on top of Chocolate, Sugar, and Butter, topped with more Chocolate. What’s not to love!

Did anybody mention canadian beer? Nothing like a good cold Labbatts on a really hot day!

space ghost:
That’s ok… i will stay right here…
No one is asking you to move to Canada, they are simply asking for things you admire about Canada. With that said, what was the point of your post?

I agree. I am not exposed to healthcare as much as you are…being a CNA and not a nurse yet, but I see enough and I agree. On the upside though people like my Mom…who is considered poor, and really is…can get a medical card…she got her medical card from the state (not medicaid) I think and her prescriptions for the most part are only $1.00. Now if she didn’t have to pay $1800.00 to get a tooth fixed because medicare doesn’t have dental she would be ok.

BTW Canada is beautiful. I was there last August in the Tetons. The people were wonderful, the restaurants were nice & I just remembered that I forgot to see if the MacDonalds we went to sold quarter pounders. 😃 Also, I did see more folks like me asking for mayo with their fries. Yummy!. 😛 Oh well. Maybe next time. My husband is French Canadian and he gets the jokes all the time, he doesn’t mind…they are usually all in fun.

I would love to have a cabin there…in the mountains…Oh Canada…!

I plan to visit there alot!

Laurel, you are more than welcome to come! 🙂 There is more than enough room for everybody!

As far as the mayo goes, when I worked in a Catholic high school, the fad was just starting back in the late 80’s and early 90’. I just love mayo! Yes, McDonald’s sells quarter pounders…by the ton!
