I’m without words. I am really, really trying to wrap my head around this:

I almost can’t believe it so I had to fact-check.

The video here gives the context and what he said:

I almost couldn’t believe my ears. This takes basic scientific ignorance to a new level. Every basic householder knows that disinfectants are poisonous!!! As a retired applied chemist myself, off the top of my head I can’t think of a single disinfectant that would be safe to inject or ingest.

Maybe the next thing he could suggest is getting pickled drunk to kill COVID-19? Alcohol is a pretty good disinfectant… at very high concentrations.

I want to believe that the US is being lead by someone rational. I’m having a bit of a struggle with that at the moment. Perhaps some of the Trump True Believers here could give their own spin on this story.

Thank you. That’s why we put them out of reach of children and pets.

Trump went on to first suggest the doctors found efficacy in the suggestion, ( you could see the expressions on the doctors faces that this was almost painful to sit through)then direct them to look at it.
And if someone responds by suggesting why not explore everything, I am just going to laugh and move on.

I found myself literally shaking my head as I read that.

The vast majority of public speeches he makes are generally incomprehensible. He’s probably just a step below Biden. I doubt this will put them off.

I watched his press conference on this. Yes, chemistry is not his strong suite. But what should be his strength, is in him doing his homework before these daily meetings. He will have been given the material that is to be presented at these meetings. He should be reviewing it and then leading adequate discussion on it. In any other corporation, that is how meetings and conferences work, especially for its leaders.

The world is scrambling to have its medical leaders issue DO NOT put disinfectants and bleaches anywhere near your body. All because of the error of a supposed leader who did not do his homework before a daily meeting.

I agree up to a point. No normal adult would ever in a million years suggest injecting disinfectant into a body or somehow getting light inside a body.

That’s the problem. It’s not preparation.

It is preparation too, being prepared for meetings, knowing what your team is going to publicise at the meeting, and considering and researching responses . Ie knowing the talk is going to be on disinfectants , and if you get the idea of possibly using them on the body in some form, asking the medical experts around you before going into the meeting.

It says a lot about the culture of how the business of government is being run atm. Questions like these , which he asked his team in public, could also at some point, breach security clearances.

Of course the DNC state run news media wants this to be portrayed a certain way. But here is the reality. President Trump never said people should inject themselves with household cleaners or disinfectants.

He asked the question, watch his press conference. Dont rely on print media, watch what he said live.

I know what you’re saying, but you are applying normal rules to an abnormal person. He shouldn’t be leading the briefings. He should be keeping his mouth shut about medical and scientific topics.

But, yes, I read he doesn’t attend the task force meetings and is just free styling the briefing. Toally inapproprioate.

I watched the whole of this White house press conference since I live in NE and want to keep up to date on what is happening. I also watch Governor Cuomo in NY daily.

I heard this comment but seemed to just a thought and when he then immediately asked Dr. Birk and she commented about light and heat and temperatures in the body.

You really needed to watch the whole telecast to see each comment and each person’s response to it,

In the Fox article. Trump’s words:

He continued: "And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that. So that you’re going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds, it sounds interesting to me. So we’ll see.

Watch the video, it’s got noting with the DNC “state-run news media” which is in itself a fallacy; the DNC is not the state. He said clearly and plainly that scientists should explore the possibility of injecting disinfectants or getting them into a patient’s lungs. I don’t see how anybody who went to high school or even listened to his mother as a toddler could ever suggest such a thing.

It really is incomprehensible. Is he losing it? Or is he so detached from reality from living in his ivory towers that he doesn’t even have basic household knowledge? I don’t know.

Even though I don’t agree with his politics, I liked to think that the US is at least in the hands of someone rational.

I am less and less certain of that.

This was in reference to the medical doctors report that alcohol could kill the virus in seconds.

Please watch the whole press conference to see what actually was said and when,

I dont think he has any cleaning or basic household knowledge. There is a chorum of people out there who really have no idea how dangerous these products are. Marketing at its best. MSDS sheets are not common in the cleaner aisle in the store.

@gam197 that rambling of non coherent sentences is a great example of unpreparedness for a public meeting by the leader who convened it.

Are people that stupid? I watched the dialogue and until the press brought it up never would have even thought about the comment.
