Coronavirus: should I stay home and not go to Mass?

To quote Saint Peter Claver, “My sins deserve far greater punishment than this.” Only the Lord can turn three simultaneous cancers into a blessing. What has emerged from all of this is a soul which I sincerely hope has grown and which now enjoys spreading that same virtue of hope to other cancer patients.

I have met people, gone places and had experiences and opportunities which I never would have had otherwise. Turn the clock back and I would do it again.

Whoda’ thought?

Update:
The priests in other dioceses are recommending sick people (including the chronically ill and the elderly) to stay home. I’m following this advice and going when the situation has toned down.

I’ll miss Church so much. Time to watch Mass at home!

But I also suspect that going to Mass won’t be bad if we wear a mask and have proper precautions.
It has been discovered to be airborne as well as contact surfaces. Advice is use eye protection in conjunction with a mask as eyes can be at risk from droplets.
We should all know more in the next week as modes of contact for infection become more well known.

Update: I’m going to attempt to go to Ash Wednesday despite the coronavirus. I know it may not be a good decision, but I feel so empty without Mass. It’s like a spiritual meal for me…

A person infected 10 people at the same time in Korea today, so our country is in high alert.
Priests are continuously urging people to stay outside of church if you are immune compromised or at high risk of complications, including the elderly. This sucks. I wish I could go to Mass but at the same time, I don’t want to get sick. In the meantime, I’m watching Mass from home.

It sucks to have a chronic illness.

Yes, for sure. I’m sad that I can’t make it but it’s for the best.

I’ve heard about the situation in Daegu. I’m getting a bit worried, and you (and South Korea) are in my prayers.

Consider watching the masses on EWTN via YouTube. It will fill that void and the Lord knows that you would be there if it was safe. He is a loving and forgiving Father - not a merciless taskmaster! The evidence of this, in part, is that He has provided you with a home in which you are safe from infection and may comfortably sit out this unfolding disaster.

Update: Masses are stopped nationwide.

This is the worst Lenten season ever.

I forgot today was Ash Wednesday, but it is not good to avoid any food for me due to sickness (muscular dystrophy). Usually I fast, but I need to stay as healthy as I can. We ran out of vegetables because we are staying inside as much as possible.

Please pray for us.
