Coronovirus: Is communion available anywhere on Earth?

Have ALL the churches shut down? Isthere anywhere in America or even in the world where a person can still receive holy Communion? I am hearing that the government bans will last a long time.

I watched a livestream of Mass this morning from a parish in Massachusetts … the priest said he would be available to bring communion to local people during the week.
 
Yes, there are places in America (as in, USA) here and there where one can receive Holy Communion as of now.

This could of course change at any time.

I would further note that the government has not “banned” anything. Bishops and priests are taking the necessary precautions to comply with public health rules. The government shutdown orders for both the state of Pennsylvania and the state of Ohio list religious organizations under the businesses exempt from the shutdown. We have been under shutdown/ stay at home for a week here in the county where I work, but are still permitted to go to area churches that have been left open to pray. Many of the Catholic churches are also holding Adoration, stations, confession, etc as long as we maintain social distancing and don’t crowd the church.

By the way, regarding “the world”, there are a lot of parts of the world where this hasn’t really hit yet and they’re still having “business as usual”.

Our church did a parking lot Mass, in which the congregation remained in their vehicles, listened to the Mass via the radio, and then received Holy Communion via Ministers coming to the car window.
Knights of Columbus provided traffic control.

Definitely greatly appreciated!
 
Parking lot Mass is an interesting and creative idea.

Jochoa, you might wish to keep mum on “where this was” though. “Talk less, smile more” as Burr said to Hamilton.

Not everywhere in the world is shut down in the same way as the US, UK and Australia. I will be taking mass ti be over-70’s throughout this week even though I can’t celebrate mass for them. Beyond this, there are many places in the world where it’s largely business as usual but, for some of those weekly celebration of mass is a luxury which they’ve never experienced. It’s worth bearing in mind that there are many places in the world where mass is only celebrated once a month (sometimes less frequently than that) and how easy it is for us to take for granted what we’d become so used to.
 
I know of places that may not be cooperative with the bishops’ instructions, but it is not advisable to attend those Masses.
 
Of course. Priests are celebrating Mass all over the world, they are celebrating privately. The Eucharist is always present from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.

Priests will have the Eucharist available for emergencies (think Viaticum) at a minimum.
 
The churches in many parts of the US are not closed. You can go in to pray if you stay at a distance from others. Churches are open right now during certain hours where I am. They will likely stay open because they are on the governor’s “exempt” list.

Public Masses are suspended in many if not most places.

I am worried about not taking communion for so long. People are saying these restrictions will last for months. What can I do?
 
Join yourself to fellow Catholics how live in places where they never have access to the Sacraments.

Watch mass online and make a spiritual communion.

Deepen your prayer life, maybe try the Divine Office. Read Scripture, do works of mercy
 
You do know that in past centuries it wasn’t uncommon for people to only be able to receive Communion once per year? And that there are canonized saints who couldn’t receive Our Lord for many years?

Just make Spiritual Communion and look forward to the day when it ends. And I seriously doubt restrictions will last for “months”. Maybe 2 or 3 months. The economy can’t take much more than that.
