About praying out loud…

I remember reading about Chiara Lubeck and others during WWII when they were seeing so much destruction in their area in Italy, and trying to find grounding in their faith. They struggled to eventually love the cross and find joy in it.

They would go outside together and pray outside in public the readings of the Gospels.

They have grown in numbers and are named, ‘Focliori’. It is a movement that is now growing in America. I am now wondering if spelling is correct.

I now wonder if that would be a good practice for us to do in this ‘tsunami’ of materialism and dissent…

Pray the Gospel out loud…fill the air with the Word of God, praise Him out loud to counteract the profanity and wasted talk.

We have much to learn from those who survived.

We have much to learn from those who survived.
We have much to learn also from those who did not survive: Corrie’s sister and father, Dietrich Bonhoeffner, members of the White Rose, those who did not make it out of their landing craft alive or off the beach.

We also need to remember the terrible persecution occurring today in many parts of the world, especially in places like North Korea and the Arabian peninsula, but also in parts of China and India, and throughout the 10-40 window. It’s been said that more Christians died under persecution in the 20th century than in any other century. And it does not seem to have let up.

It’s a wonderful book. I read it when I was a teenager a hundred years ago. I really need to read it again. Someone started a Corrie ten Boom page on Facebook. They put up inspirational quotes from her books.

Thank you to all who answered. I appreciate all comments. To answer "Doxiemom"s comment: Heresy is something that occurs when something is being taught, as the truth, against Church teachings. “Church teachings” means the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We, as Catholics know if a book is one free of heresies by seeing an imprimatur in the front. Most books don’t have these in front, so they need to be questioned. Since the book in question has no imprimatur, printed by a non-Catholic publisher, and is written by a protestant, it needs to be questioned. That is why I brought my question here.

Unfortunately, we have seen a lot of Catholic brothers and sisters turn away from the Faith or become “wishy-washy” due to what they read and hear in the main-stream media. I don’t want to fall into that trap, so I am very careful as to what I read and watch on television.

The question I ask does not seek to diminish the author’s authenticity or holiness.

God Bless and thank you!
Never heard about the imprintur for catholics to look for.I can see why a person who is well cemented in their catholic faith could use this a a tool to help guard their thoughts should they go astray from the catachism.
Yours also in Christ

There was one incident with the two teen girls that made a lasting impression.

One day they both saw a truck of soldiers pull up accross the street. They got out and went into the home and brought out several Jews with them. When this was going on, one sister said to the other, I’m praying for them. The other said, yes I am too praying for those poor Jews. The other sister immediately chimed up and said, no, not for the Jews, but for the soldiers, for they will have much to answer for.

The father also had the top floor reserved for orphan boys. The father would go out at night and try to find them and when he did he would bring them home with him. As I recall there were about 6 or 8 boys all the time staying with them. And when one boy would leave, then he would go out to find another to take his place.

Wonderful story of a kindly man who truely loved Jesus.

Great and heroic witnesses of faith.

I wonder if such persecutions as Tomi has shared, will come to here in one form or another. We have signs around us.

I pray we will all have the faith of martyrs and not renounce Christ for our own lives. After this a great triumph will come of Christ’s glory and His return to our hearts. I remember a woman many years ago my age who said I wish the Lord would just come and get it over with. That was in the mid 80’s. She passed away 10 years later of cancer.

Saudi Arabia and more so, Pakistan are the most harsh on non-Muslims. We have a friend here who is Catholic, an Arab, and was living in Saudi Arabia and we have not heard from him for awhile and are concerned about him. We had Ananzi Muslims here from Pakistan all using the same name, Plantan. One stood out to me and we became friends. They are likewise a persecuted minority and a number of them several times were killed by the mobs. I wondered if he may had been one of them.
