Your going back into the 1800’s with these stats??? Drugs were in this country the whole time. They became controlled/illegal in 1920, then much harsher laws in the late 60’s/ early 70’s FYI. Welfare in the ? 50s?Well the % of drug addicts in the USA has remained constant since before any drug was legal. So it’s either the war on drugs (which, lets face it, is a war on brown and black poor people) or welfare or something that hasn’t been suggested yet… oh, it could be single parent homes as those kids kill far more often than other poor kids who have 2 parents.
I’d love to see murder rates first half of last century compared to 70’s and on (when the war on drugs got up and running)I’ld LOVE IT!!!
Oh yeah, I’d also bet there is a bump during alcohol prohibition.
