You’re right, priests do have to follow Church teachings. And you’re right that sadly, not all do. The two priests that I consulted do follow Church teachings and are quite conservative. So again, I trust them, and I take their word over those of someone online. True, CAF is a great resource, but I’ll go with the real live priests over someone online. Afterall, they know me and I know them. A person online doesn’t know me, and I don’t know them.Priests have to follow the Church teachings. Sadly, not all do. I quoted the Church teachings to you.
It is enough for anyone to reject or have an obstinate doubt about an infallible teaching to make it heresy. In the case of abortion rejecting or having an obstinate doubt about the teaching is heresy and a sin of grave matter and such a person may not receive Communion. Such a person is not required to have an abortion or encourage abortion to have committed heresy and a sin of grave matter.
