Even when I was a Pentecostal Christian with deep misgivings about the Catholic Church I could see that Mr. Chick’s rantings against Catholicism were nothing more than hatred disguised as evangelical outreach. Anyone who could possibly buy into such stuff hasn’t a notion what true Catholicism is, has no understanding of real history, and must have some need to be confirmed in their own bigotry.

The fact that he thinks the Jesuits, of all orders, are the Vatican’s tool for global domination should say it all Has he actually read some of the stuff that comes from a lot of Jesuit Priests (and I don’t mean Fr. Mitch Pacwa), or seen what is actually going on at Jesuit universities?

The question(in my opinion) is ludicrous in itself and I’m quite surprised that ANY Catholic who comprehends his/her faith would waste anyone’s time by posing it on a Catholic forum unless that person is trying to provoke controversy,furor,and anger.These fora are are for reasoned discussion from a Christian perspective and all too often devolve into an us against them mentality with accompanying uncharitable posts.This question as you well know(in my opinion)is a lightening rod for Catholics who are targeted for hate by this sick, bigoted old man who desperately needs our prayer.

If it is such a waste of time why did you even bother to post your response?? The OP was written to be neutral and I am not, as you say “trying to provoke controversy, furor, and anger” although I can see that it certainly brought out some anger in you.

As I stated in the OP, I am not aware of what church Jack Chick belongs to, or if he is even alive. If he has passed on, it is my fervant hope that he is in the arms of God.

But it is a fact that his tracts are handed out regularly and many many people have seen them and have responded to them, both positively and negatively. It is important to discuss what effect his tracts have had on Christianity and other faiths.

I do hope that all posts are polite and follow forum rules.

I believe that I am allowed to start a thread as I am a member of this forum. If you do not want to participate that is your choice.

I don’t know what church Jack Chick belongs to, or even if he is still alive. The tracts are easily accessible by googling “Jack Chick.” I don’t want to post any links at this time because I don’t want to pick out one tract in particular.

Jack Chick is still alive and he is from a Baptist denomination. He is quite old and even freaky looking!

While wondering whether Jack Chick had passed on I googled for awhile and found the following link:

On this site it is stated that Jack Chick was murdered by the Jesuits. I’m going to provide this link because I know someone on this thread would find it sooner or later. I didn’t know about this site until after I posted the OP.

I believe this is a hoax as it gives no date for the “murder” and states that Mr. Chick lived alone with his wife for the past twenty years, while on other sites it is stated that he was married for fifty years to the same woman who passed on in 1998 (I’m guessing on the year but I believe it is correct.) I can add and if he was married in 1998 there is no way he could have lived with a second wife for twenty years (unless he was practicing polygamy).

I respectfully request that everyone remain charitable in our messages and that we show respect for the fact that Jack Chick is a human being with a precious soul and is priceless to God.

Anything is THEORETICALLY possible.

It is theoretically possible that the US didn’t land on the Moon in 1969.
It is theoretically possible that all those that talk about how they were abducted by aliens are speaking the truth
It is theoretically possible that JFK was in fact killed by a time-travelling nazi Martian, who had taken control of the body of the person who supposedly pulled the trigger, using his out-of-this-world mind control techniques…

My point? Everything is theoretically possible. Not everything is PLAUSIBLE, and Jack Chick belongs in the “false with 99,9999 (ad infinitum)% certainty”-category.

I was listening to Patrick Madrid talk about getting ambushed at a talk in Los Angeles by Rivera and one or two of his companions. I forget what the topic of his talk was, but supposedly they kept yelling from the audience and tried to turn it into a debate.

Jimmy Akin actually met Jack Chick in person and drew a caricature of him, later finding a real picture of him put up by accident - both of which I believe are up on Akin’s website.
