Could the antichrist come in the form of a woman? I’ve never heard anyone say anything either way, but most of the time when we accuse someone of being the antichrist, we think of men first. But could a woman be, or is that against scripture?

Some have said that the Antichrist will come in a form resembling Christ…some have even said it will probably be a Jewish man.

Personally I don’t think so. I think i could be anybody. But I’d also be interested to know if there’s a clear teaching on the matter from the Church. I’m not aware of any.

Other than “there will be one”, the Church has not ruled on the Antichrist.

However, the Church-approved Marian apparition at LaSalette in France (1846) has said that Antichrist would be male and born of a “Hebrew false virgin.”

So it seems to suggest that, as many believe, the A-C’s life will counterfeit that of our LORD, at least to an extent.

Br. Nathaneal, a Russian Orthodox Christian, claims that the antichrist will be the messiah which the Jews are waiting for.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he also announces himself to be the Shiites’ Mahdi, and will at least temporarily finesse the contradiction of rebuilding the Temple and letting the Dome of the Rock continue in operation as a mosque…

Lately I wonder if he or shes gonna be a part of the new atheist movement, science being the false miracles (I do believe in what science teaches, but it seems to me like the antichrist will use science against God)

I thought that would be many of them: men, women and transgenders.

Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come (1Jn 2:18ab)

From the catechism:

675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.574 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth575 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.576

676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,577 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.

Not much here about gender. Let’s check scriptural references to the antichrist:

1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour.

1 John 2:22
Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son.

1 John 4:3
And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus, is not of God: and this is Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he cometh, and he is now already in the world.

2 John 1:7
For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an antichrist.

Here, the masculine pronoun is probably a reflection of the culture in which John wrote.

As a man who has been married for 32 years, I dare not risk an opinion on this subject :o

Not just culture, but also the compulsion caused by language which has defined ‘he’, ‘she’ and ‘it’ but not a common pronoun for any human in general. Some languages have such a pronoun including my native language, Tamil.

(In Tamil ‘he = avan’, ‘she = aval’, ‘he or she = avar’ and ‘it = adhu’)

Because the Antichrist acts “in persona diaboli”, the Antichrist must be male.

Could be. I think though he’ll be some sort of evangelical, but not a good biblical one, rather I think he’ll kind of be like the “I hate Religion Love Jesus” type who will be a lot more radical and more individualistic. Thats just me though

Since HaSatan has no body, this being also has no gender.

Someone could act i.p.d. and be female. IIUC

Isnt the Antichrist the incarnation of the Devil?

Just like how Jesus is the incarnation of God?

Satan is constantly referred to as a “he.”

I’m not aware of any biblical reason why not. It would be an extraordinarily popular woman with a great deal of the world population.

I agree with this. Kind of a tricky relgious sort. He/she won’t be promoting anti religion, but rather heretical Christian based religion, or current heresy, such as Islam, but most likely a “new age” version of Christianity with a really weak Christ, or even a new age Islam with a weak Allah. Or something we haven’t even thought of yet that says Islam and Christianity are both good, but really, shouldn’t they just keep it in their churches and mosques, and out of the public square? Everything will be okay, accept public display of authentic Christian ideals, and he/she will have a new “way” for everybody else.

It is not doctrine that the antichrist is a person. This has not been defined. Many biblical scholars and theologians (most?) believe the antichrist refers to a profound heresy which will infect society and/or the Church.

The sex of the Devil has not been defined. He is referred to as a “he” but Satan is preternatural and not a sexual being.

I thought that infection of society was called the spirit of the antichrist or spirit of the beast? It says Jesus will defeat The Antichrist at the end, not that He will defeat heresy? And The Antichrist as a person who offers solutions to our problems at the cost of apostasy? Sounds like personification.

I dont know how you feel about Church approved Marian apparitions such as La Salette, but it was stated The Antichrist will be born of a sister.

(Let me assure you, my belief in Church approved Marian apparitions have nothing to do with angels talking about insurance lol)
